Who will he join in the post-Major shuffle?

After Monte’s disappointing 1-3 finish at the Copenhagen Major RMR event, the team has parted ways with Viktor "sdy" Orudzhev. The announcement came today as the player’s contract with the org comes to an end. The 26-year-old Ukrainian player is now a free agent and will be on the lookout for a new org to represent post the Major next month.

Sdy parts ways with Team Monte

"I'm looking for a new home, hopefully in a short period of time. I feel that my best game form is now, that I can contribute in a lot of ways to a top team. I'm in discussion with several teams but nothing is validated,” sdy said on social media.

Monte has been one of the standout teams over the past year and sdy has been a big reason for their success. Not only has the youngster been able to perform in the server, but he was also sharing IGL duties alongside Volodymyr "Woro2k" Veletniuk.

The team reached the BLAST.tv Paris Major playoffs last year finishing 7-8th. They also secured a top 4 placement at the ESL Pro League Season 18. They ultimately lost out to NAVI in the semifinals, which led to their elimination.

Unfortunately, this year, Monte had a disappointing start to their Copenhagen Major attempt. Sdy falling ill and Monte playing some of the matches without their star player was a big letdown. Despite sdy returning to play on the team mid-RMR, it wasn’t enough. Monte lost 1-2 to Astralis in their elimination match during European RMR B.

For now, Monte’s Counter-Strike 2 roster is as follows:

  • Alexander "br0" Bro
  •  Volodymyr "Woro2k" Veletniuk
  • Sergiy "DemQQ" Demchenko
  • Szymon "kRaSnaL" Mrozek
  • Sergey "lmbt" Bezhanov (coach)

The Copenhagen Major is the first Counter-Strike 2 Major and will feature the best teams from all over the world in participation. The tournament has a $1.25 million prize pool.
