A crowded list of nominees for Play of the Year at the 2022 Esports Awards came down to three contenders, with FaZe, CS:GO, and Twistzz taking gold.
CS:GO fans everywhere rejoice as FaZe Clan's Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken took home Esports Play of the Year at the 2022 Esports Awards tonight in Las Vegas. A stacked field of nominees covered a wide variety of games and moments, ranging from Smash Bros. to Rocket League and the eventual winner in Counter Strike: Global Offensive. The winning moments comes from this year's Intel Extreme Masters XVII in Cologne, with Twistzz helping his team to victory over NaVi in front of a loaded and excited crowd.
The win also comes with Twistzz being nominated for Player of the Year at the event. In a recorded message for attendees Twistzz mentions the trust from his team in allowing for an on-the-fly strategy deep in the late rounds of a critical moment at IEM.
As a highlight this stands at the top of my career for me. It was based around a strat that I made called "Canada,' and I'm happy that my teammates trusted me to use this play in the deciding map against NaVi to win the event.
