Diablo IV’s recent Campfire Chat revealed details about Season 8, which sparked speculation on the release date.
It has been a few weeks since Diablo IV’s Rod Fergusson announced that Season 8 would be delayed. The team then organized a Campfire Chat – a video where the developers spoke about upcoming changes. During this chat, the team confirmed a few details about the game’s future. With that, we saw a lot of speculation about when the next season would be coming.

Diablo IV’s Season 8 release date and delays
While we know about the delay, which should be for a “few weeks,” the official date has not been released. However, we do know that we will have a Public Test Realm (PTR), and the dates for this have been confirmed.

As seen above, the PTR for Season 8 will begin on March 11 and run through to March 18, as confirmed by Blizzard during the Campfire Chat.

What to expect in the PTR
During the PTR, players will be able to test many of the changes coming in Season 8. This includes the class changes as well as the Boss Lair reworks. However, one aspect was also pointed out by the team. This would be that character boosts will not be available until a few days after the PTR goes live. This could be done to ensure that the new leveling-up system is also tested. Although this may deter some from joining the PTR, as they want to mainly see the late-game content, it could be good to see just how the new systems will work.
With big changes to the levelling, especially in the early game, PTR is a great way for Blizzard to judge if they have made errors in their process. While many might have an aversion to Seasonal content, it is the way Action Role-Playing Games (ARPGs) maintain longevity.
Diablo IV’s PTR dates seem to suggest that we will possibly only see Season 8 towards the end of April, but maybe closer to May than anticipated. Whether the game continues to thrive and survive remains to be seen — especially since games such as Path of Exile II are still rising.
