List of Lima Major teams

The first Dota 2 Major in 2023 will take place in Lima, Peru for the first time in history. A total of 18 teams will compete for a slice of the $500K USD prize pool and valuable DPC points. The event is set to happen from February 22 until March 5, where the main event takes place in Arena 1, Lima.

Each region is allocated specific slots for Major participation. NA and SA get two slots, EEU and SEA get three slots, and lastly, WEU and China get four slots.

Team Aster

  • Du "Monet" Peng
  • Zhai "Xwy" Jingkai
  • Lin "Xxs" Jing
  • Ye "BoBoKa" Zhibiao
  • Yu "皮球" Yajun

Team Aster is the earliest team that qualified for the Lima Major. The team accumulated a quick 5-0 scoreline due to China DPC's fast schedule and grabbed the first CN slot with ease.

The Chinese powerhouse is the regional favorite and they have proven their immaculate form with zero series losses throughout the DPC. The team last placed 4th at TI11, the highest achievement for the organization so far. Despite losing its skillful midlaner, Zeng "Ori" Jiaoyang, ahead of the season, Aster still managed to come on top of China DPC. However, PSG.LGD became their kryptonite as they lost a back-to-back series against the giant organization, dropping them to 2nd place.

PSG.LGD

  • Guo "shiro" Xuanang
  • Cheng "NothingToSay" Jin Xiang
  • Li "项羽" Longwu
  • Lin "planet" Hao
  • Zhang "y`" Yiping

The most consistent force in the Dota 2 world, PSG.LGD, makes it to Lima Major after a great performance in the CN DPC. The team fields two familiar faces, y' (now known as WhyouSm1Le) and NothingToSay who retained the colors of PSG.LGD in this season. The two notable players are joined by new names that have proven themselves solid to fill in the big shoes of the team.

The team had a smooth run despite dropping a controversial series against Knights. But they tremendously recovered, beating a powerful Team Aster twice in a row. PSG.LGD reigns supreme as they are crowned the #1 team in the China region.

Knights

  • Luo "eGo" Bin
  • Vincent "AlaCrity" Hiew
  • Su "Flyby" Lei
  • Chong “FelixCiaoBa” Wei Lun
  • Xiao "XCJ" Chaojian

Knights is a new force in the CN region which has been immensely successful. Although the team's name is completely new, some of the players are locally known. The team only lost to Team Aster and demolished one of the strongest powerhouses, PSG.LGD, smoothly.

But the elephant in the room remains as this team currently has cheating allegations looming over their heads. The investigation took place almost three weeks ago with no new updates. Nevertheless, Knights look incredibly solid and they will grab one of the four Lima Major slots in CN DPC.

EHOME

  • Wong "mks" Sim An
  • Pan "yChen" Shuaifang
  • Lee "X1aOyU" Qian Yu
  • Tang "Salad" Xiaolei
  • Liu "Lww" Weiwei

The new generation EHOME grabs the 18th and final slot in Lima Major after a convincing tiebreaker match against Xtreme Gaming. The squad did well in the CN DPC, although they suffered three series losses. They even initially lost against Xtreme but found their footing to make it out alive in the tiebreakers.

Team Liquid

  • Michael "miCKe" Vu
  • Michał "Nisha" Jankowski
  • Ludwig "zai" Wåhlberg
  • Samuel "Boxi" Svahn
  • Aydin "iNSaNiA" Sarkohi

Everything is perfectly splendid for Team Liquid right now as they lead the competitive WEU DPC with a 7-0 scoreline, completely undefeated. The team had an astounding run at TI11, which saw them clinch a 3rd place despite coming from the Last Chance Qualifier.

For the 2023 season, Liquid got their hands on superstar midlaner, Nisha, to fill in the shoes of a retired Lasse "MATUMBAMAN" Urpalainen. It seems like Nisha is the perfect puzzle piece that has solidified Liquid's roster beyond expectations.

Gaimin Gladiators

  • Anton "dyrachyo" Shkredov
  • Quinn "Quinn" Callahan
  • Marcus "Ace" Christensen
  • Erik "tOfu" Engel
  • Melchior "Seleri" Hillenkamp

Following a rough performance at TI11, GG bounced back to deliver a solid performance this season. The team, now with the NA star, Quinn, as their midlaner, managed to win most of their matches except for a loss against Team Liquid and OG. After successfully shutting down TI champions, Tundra Esports, GG advanced as the 2nd team from WEU to qualify for the Lima Major.

Tundra Esports

  • Oliver "skiter" Lepko
  • Leon "Nine" Kirilin
  • Neta "33" Shapira
  • Martin "Saksa" Sazdov
  • Wu "Sneyking" Jingjun

After what felt like centuries stuck in the endless tiebreaker loop, Tundra Esports finally prevailed. The TI11 champions didn't look as solid as they were a couple of months ago, with three losses in the DPC. They dropped games against Team Liquid, Gaimin Gladiators, and Entity, which pushed them down the ranks. The team was forced to play tiebreakers but the champs proved their prowess as they escaped the infinite round, securing the third Lima Major slot in WEU.

Entity

  • Alimzhan "watson" Islambekov
  • Daniel "Stormstormer" Schoetzau
  • Tobias "Tobi" Buchner
  • Vladislav "Kataomi`" Semenov
  • Dzmitry "Fishman" Palishchuk

Entity made it out of the tiebreakers alive as they grab the final WEU slot in the Lima Major. The team now fields a rising carry player, watson, who has played for teams like B8 and Hellraisers. Entity showed some struggles in the DPC, losing to three teams and dropping them in the middle of the ranking. However, they seem to have figured out Tundra's weaknesses as the team managed to defeat the TI11 champs multiple times. After a smooth win against OG in the tiebreakers, Entity becomes the next team to advance to the Major.

Execration

  • Jinn "Palos" Lamatao
  • Mark "Bob" Urbina
  • Justine "Tino" Grimaldo
  • Mark "Shanks" Redira
  • Juan "BDz" Manalo

Execration finally makes a comeback! The Filipino organization cemented a notable reputation after qualifying for TI in 2016, however, its time under the limelight was short. Xctn managed to qualify for the WePlay AniMajor, but again, it flunked and ranked bottom.

The team even dropped to Division II in Tour 2 last year but managed to climb their way back to Division I. In this season's SEA DPC, with former T1 coach, Park "March" Tae-won, at the helm, Execration annihilated Division I and scored 6-1 with only a series loss against Geek Slate.

Geek Slate

  • Rolen "skem" Ong
  • Joshua "Kokz" Maraño
  • Nikko "Force" Bilocura
  • Ravdan "NARMAN" Narmandakh
  • Roger "Roddgeee" Tan

Geek Fam returned after a hiatus throughout the pandemic, this time partnered with Slate Esports. The team picked up notable names in the Southeast Asian region including former BOOM Esports' captain, skem, which now assumes the carry role.

It seems like the switch-up is working smoothly for the team. Geek Slate has been consistent throughout SEA DPC, only losing against Talon Esports and Fnatic. This roster had some eyebrows raised ahead of the season but they have proven solid to grab the second SEA slot in the Lima Major.

Talon Esports

  • Nuengnara "23savage" Teeramahanon
  • Rafli "Mikoto" Rahman
  • Anucha "Jabz" Jirawong
  • Worawit "Q" Mekchai
  • Chan "Oli" Chon Kien

Talon Esports has survived the chaotic SEA DPC. It is the only SEA team from TI11 that made it to Lima Major as BOOM Esports and Fnatic face relegation. However, they didn't have a convincing run. Talon lost three series against Fnatic, Execration, and Blacklist International, forcing them to play tiebreakers for a chance in the next Major. Fortunately for the team, they managed to find their footing and defeated BI in the deciding series.

Shopify Rebellion

  • Artour "Arteezy" Babaev
  • Abed "Abed" Yusop
  • Jonáš "SabeRLight-" Volek
  • Andreas "Cr1t-" Nielsen
  • Tal "Fly" Aizik

The former Evil Geniuses stack comprising the veterans of NA looks incredibly solid. However, Shopify Rebellion loses its first and final series against TSM, dropping them to second place in NA.

Ahead of the season, the team had parted ways with Russian offlaner, Nighfall. This was following a disappointing year where the team consistently flunked in international events. Right before the roster lock deadline, SabeRLight-, the former player of their NA counterpart, TSM, fills in the vacant spot.

TSM

  • Enzo "Timado" Gianoli
  • Jonathan "Bryle" Guia
  • Ilyas "kasane" Gainullin
  • Matthew "Ari" Walker
  • Matthew "Whitemon" Filemon

TSM is smooth sailing through the NA DPC with another undefeated streak. The team only dropped one match against nouns and secured a 7-0 scoreline. This score crowns TSM as the #1 team in NA, soaring ahead of Shopify Rebellion.

In this season, TSM fields an intriguing roster with the two remaining cores and three new players. British pos 4, Ari, and Indonesian support, Whitemon join the team to replace Dubu (now BLEED Esports' captain) and MoonMeander, who stepped into TSM's coaching role. Their former offlaner, Saberlight- had stepped out from the team abruptly nearing the deadline and TSM grabbed young Russian talent, kasane, to complete the roster.

BetBoom Team

  • Ivan "Pure" Moskalenko
  • Danil "gpk" Skutin
  • Egor "Nightfall" Grigorenko
  • Vitalie "Save-" Melnic
  • Alexander "TORONTOTOKYO" Khertek

BetBoom likely has the highest expectations on their shoulders coming into this season. With an all-star lineup comprising the finest in EEU, BetBoom proved monstrous with a 7-0 undefeated scoreline. It only dropped one match against Darkside, but that did not injure its momentum. BetBoom becomes the #1 team of the EEU region.

With many returning players of great renown, BetBoom shows its strong chemistry. Pure returned to EEU after a stint in WEU with Entity. Nightfall departed Evil Geniuses from the NA region. Save- surfaced in the pro scene after a year of inactivity. All of this combined with gpk's prowess and TI-winner TORONTOTOKYO's leadership, Betboom delivered a powerful performance.

Team Spirit

  • Illya "Yatoro" Mulyarchuk
  • Denis "Larl" Sigitov
  • Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov
  • Miroslaw "Mira" Kolpakov
  • Yaroslav "Miposhka" Naidenov

This TI10 champions lineup with the addition of former BetBoom Team midlaner, Larl, looks solid but they had quite a rocky journey. Team Spirit led an undefeated streak but eventually lost to the all-star EEU stack, BetBoom Team, which dropped them to 2nd place. Nevertheless, Team Spirit will be gearing up for the upcoming Lima Major in Peru.

HellRaisers

  • Nikita "Daxak" Kuzmin
  • Gleb "depressed kid" Zyryanov
  • Matvey "MieRo`" Vasyunin
  • Vladislav "Antares" Kertman
  • Alexey "Solo" Berezin

It is no surprise to see notable names like Daxak and Solo shine in the new lineup of HellRaisers. These veterans, coupled with pub star, depressed kid, and young talents, MieRO and Antares, look promising.

The team proved its potential in the EEU DPC, winning every single series except for two. HellRaisers dropped matches against Team Spirit and BetBoom Team, which are the two best teams in the region. Although HellRaisers' performance is still a tad bit below these teams, they secured enough points to grab the third slot of EEU.

Evil Geniuses

  • Christian "Pakazs" Casanova
  • Jean "Chris Luck" Salazar
  • Adrián "Wisper" Dobles
  • Farith "Matthew" Huamancaja
  • Jose "Pandaboo" Hernandez

One of the household names in the Dota 2 scene, Evil Geniuses surprised the community when it relocated to South America this season. The organization grabbed the former players of Thunder Awaken and beastcoast, who both showcased astounding performances in 2022. In SA DPC, EG led an undefeated streak but lost in an epic finale against beastcoast.

beastcoast

  • Héctor "K1" Rodríguez
  • Herrera "DarkMago" Gonzalo
  • Rafael "Sacred" Yonatan
  • Elvis "Scofield" Peña
  • Steven "StingeR" Mamani

The fusion of former Thunder Awaken players and beastcoast are both doing extremely well. Beastcoast made it through the whole of SA DPC without dropping any series. However, the team did lose a match against Alliance LATAM and Infamous. But in its final series against Evil Geniuses, beastcoast prevailed convincingly and is now crowned the champions of South America.
