The new patch 7.38 has dropped and Dota 2 players have a lot to unpack. The brand new map with a lot of water is the biggest change, but there’s also one more mechanic change - Madstone.
Madstone changes how you approach the game as you can now craft neutral items. Yes, you read that right. You can customize your neutral item to your requirements and also look at your teammates' progress.
What is Madstone in Dota 2?
Madstone is a new resource in Dota 2 that lets you craft Neutral items unique to your play style. You can customize your neutral item based on the present match scenario.
The Madstone comprises two parts - the Artifacts and Enchantments. Dota 2 players need to use Madstone to craft personalized neutral items. The Artifact gives your item new abilities and the Enchantment gives it a passive stat or attribute bonus.
How to Get Madstone
You can get the Madstone simply by farming neutral items. Fully clearing a neutral camp gives you Three Madstones - two for yourself and one for a random ally. You can also check what other teammates are crafting.
Clicking on the craft button near the item inventory will give you a sneak peek into what they are crafting and what they need to help them complete their neutral item.
Here are the timings when the various tiers of neutral items are available in-game:
- Tier 1: 2.30 min +
- Tier 2: 7.30 min +
- Tier 3: 12.30 min +
- Tier 4: 17.30 min +
- Tier 5: 30.00 min +
There are tiers of Artifacts and Enchantments - the same as neutral items previously. During each of the time slots, you have to clear out neutral creep camps. Clearing Neutral creep camps gives you two Madstones and one Madstone for a random ally.
