The wait is over as Valve’s TI12 content will release next week

Valve is releasing its International 2023 (TI12) compendium next week as per a blog post by the developer. Details of the compendium’s release date, as well as several international pubstomp’s inclusion in the official broadcast of TI12, were detailed in Valve’s latest Dota 2 blog post, published on Sept. 24.

As per the post, Valve stated that: ”We're looking forward to releasing the new International Compendium next week.” No hard date was given, but with the traditional Valve release schedule, we expect a Tuesday, September 26, or Wednesday, September 27 release.

In Dota 2, compendiums are functionally very similar to Battle Passes, but in the past were levelled up more by achieving challenges (things like kills with certain heroes, etc.). Compared to modern Battle Passes, the rewards were often more front loaded, with the TI5 compendium gifting around 20 rewards just for purchasing the compendium for the first time and reaching level 1.

Compendiums have been a part of Dota 2 since 2013, with The International 2013 Compendium. Following this TI4 and TI5 both had compendiums, as well as several smaller events and seasons. The compendium concept eventually gave way to the modern Battle Pass, which Valve discontinued this year. This new TI12 Compendium will be the first "official" compendium since 2016.

TI12 pubstomps

Additionally, Valve will reportedly include pubstomps from around the world into the live broadcast of The International.

Pubstomps, a byword for fan viewing parties of Dota 2 events, have been a part of Dota 2 since its inception. Esports.gg even reported live from a few of them last TI, featuring Reality Rift’s and OG’s viewing parties.

The term pubstomps is perhaps a little confusing for fans of other esports, where a pubstomp means something completely different. And, perhaps most confusingly, a pubstomp is sometimes used as a name for an internet cafe/LAN center by Dota 2 players.

Still, viewing parties from around the world will become part of the TI broadcast. Valve hasn’t released details about how this will work, how you’ll be able to register your pubstomp, and whether you’ll need to be streaming yourself, etc.

The post also detailed additionally details about the Short Film Contest, and a sign-up form for this year’s Cosplay Contest. Details about both these competitions are included in the official Dota 2 website.
