The Lima Major will embrace local culture as its theme

4D Esports revealed that the upcoming Dota 2 Lima Major will bring a local culture theme. It also dropped the date for ticket sales!

Valve's upcoming Dota 2 Major which will take place in Lima, Peru is highly anticipated by the Dota 2 community. 4D Esports, who had been handling the South American competitive Dota 2 scene, will be in charge of the Lima Major. As the Winter Tour begins, 4D Esports released more details regarding the Lima Major including hinting at a "local culture" theme.

4D Esports to color the Dota 2 Major with a Peruvian theme

In a short Twitter thread, 4D Esports dropped a video in Spanish, which teased the upcoming Lima Major. "It will be nice for everyone to find out, those that watch Dota on their way to work, those that go to the bathroom in university to check the match score, or those that play ranked in the LAN cafe like it's always been done - now it's finally our turn!"

4D Esports then mentioned its collaboration with EPULZE, the Swedish gaming organization. They suggested hosting a Major in Lima and instilling a local theme in it which EPULZE had agreed to. So we can expect local concepts, music, artworks, and more throughout the Lima Major. A fresh sight in the Dota 2 pro scene.

"When we team up with (EPULZE) to make this crazy thing called Lima Major a reality, not only they got excited for what it means to the Peruvian community, they also were on board to make a very local theme for it," said 4D Esports.

There is no clear visual of what the Peruvian theme might look like. But the look and design of its poster might be the biggest clue.

Lima Major's poster is decorated with vibrant colors and fiery leaves on the side. The colors are strong and bright, and the design radiates a "street style" art. This connects well to the video that 4D Esports posted where the guy walked through the city's street to put up the Lima Major poster on the wall.

Tickets on sale this Friday the 13th!

In the same thread by 4D Esports, it further stated that the Lima Major will be a celebration to the Peruvian Dota 2 community - which it painted as the most passionate fan of this esport.

"This event is a celebration to the Peruvian dota player, the most passionate fan of this esport. The only country in the region that mostly plays and lives this game that brings every one of us closer," 4D Esports stated.

Peru is no doubt one of the most concentrated regions when it comes to representation. Last year, it tied with Russia as the country with the most players at The International 11. The final part of 4D Esports' announcement revealed the ticket sales date which begins on January 13th, 2023 on Friday.

To those that are planning to purchase tickets, we suggest you stand by early. This is because scalpers are known to sweep tickets clean and resell them for ridiculous prices. So be prepared!
