Chun-Li has officially been cast in the upcoming Street Fighter live-action film.

In recent news, the upcoming Street Fighter live-action movie just got its Chun-Li. The popular Canadian actress, Callina Liang, has officially been cast as Chun-Li in the live-action Street Fighter film, which is set to release in 2026.

Canadian actress Callina Liang joins the cast for Street Fighter movie

It is no secret that Chun-Li is one of the most beloved characters within the world of gaming. Just ask SypherPK (look up the lore). However, an on-screen adaptation of the character has to be perfect in fans' eyes.

While portraying Chun-Li in a live-action movie is difficult, it would seem as if Sony picked the right actress for the job. Callina Liang not only fits the role visually, but is an astounding young actress. While most of her roles have been in smaller movies or TV shows, Liang has already proven herself perfect for the role of Chun-Li.

The movie, which is being directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip), will also star Jason Momoa, making it heavily anticipated amongst Street Fighter (and Fortnite) fans.

When will Street Fighter live-action movie release?

We are less than a year away from the official release date of the Street Fighter live-action movie, as the film is set to release on March 20, 2026. However, with its cast still being found, we could easily potentially see a delay in the movie's release.

Regardless, most fans probably want the movie to be in its best state. If that means they will need to push back their release date, then many will understand. With such a perfect cast already onboard, the official Street Fighter movie is looking to be one of the top video game films to be released.

However, will it be able to topple the reign that the Minecraft movie had? And what about the upcoming Legend of Zelda movie? There are so many video game to film adaptations set to release soon, making fans wonder just what will end up taking the crown as the greatest video game to film adaptation of all time.
