The weapon combines two fighting styles, so playing with Chakram in Brawlhalla opens creative opportunities in combos — and requires skills.

Weapons are a crucial factor in Brawlhalla. The game gives two types of weapons to each Legend (Brawlhalla character), and this strongly affects the actual movesets. Each weapon has identical Light Attacks, so it’s relatively easy to pick up a new Legend with the same weapon. Only Signature kits (heavy attacks) are different between the characters.

This concept makes the introduction of a new Brawlhalla weapon such a big deal for the community. The players get a totally new Light kit to express themselves in the game and some fresh Legends with their unique Sigs. The fundamentals of Brawlhalla mechanics are shaken, in a positive way, and the matches become more versatile and interesting.

It happens again thanks to Chakram: Brawlhalla announced the new weapon coming to the game in early 2025. In addition to the general excitement of such an addition, Chakram is pretty unusual, bringing two types of fighting styles. Here, we break the Chakram gameplay down.

Brawlhalla Chakram: Reveal trailer

The Brawlhalla new weapon was shown for the first time during the World Championship 2024 (BCX 2024). Take a look at the Chakram reveal trailer below.

The video gives lots of details on the Light kit of the future Chakram Brawlhalla Legends, even without revealing who these characters could be. The Legend model is replaced with a dummy, and it would be interesting to know who really fights with this weapon.

The previous new addition is Battle Boots. This weapon joined the game back in 2022, alongside the new Legend Tezca. Battle Boots are beginner-friendly, as you can easily link Light attacks and create basic combos. At the same time, Brawlhalla esports professionals play Battle Boots characters a lot: for example, Red Raptor is the main for Raydish, and Sandstorm experiments with Tezca (as an addition to Mordex).

Chakram gameplay breakdown

This weapon has two forms.

  • Fused: Chakram looks like a circle of blades, and characters hold it as a shield. The attacks are slow and massive, reminding us of Axe, Hammer, or Greatsword.
  • Split: The circle is split in two, for each hand. Brawlhalla Legends hold Chakram similarly to Katars, and the attacks become quicker (with potentially less damage).

You can switch between the Fused and Split forms by performing Down Light. This affects the fighting style with Chakram substantially.

Fused

  • Neutral Light is a short-range swing that launches the opponent slightly in the air. This may be a good combo starter to proceed with a quick air attack or a far-reaching grounded one.
  • With Side Light, your Legend throws Chakram horizontally and pushes an opponent away. The attack has a great range. It may help you check opponents at a safe distance.
  • Down Light splits Chakram in two blades while simultaneously attacking an opponent at a close range and pushing them away.

Split

  • Neutral Light has a notably smaller launching power, and it may be easier to land the next attack with it.
  • Side Light pulls an opponent closer to the Chakram Legend for a combo continuation.
  • Down Light lunches an opponent slightly up (instead of pushing them horizontally).

These differences allow players to be more creative with Brawlhalla Chakram: craft more combos and aply trickier movements. The new weapon expands the idea of active input for Scythe and Battle Boots. However, Chakram feels like a more complicated weapon choice, as it requires additional practice and proper understanding of two kits.

The announcement of Chakram Legends should explain the Signature kits and weapon combination. These factors are as crucial as Light attacks. For all Brawlhalla news and updates, stick around on esports.gg!
