The Gold-level qualifier of the Arc World Tour 2024 was a chance for pros to fight for precious standing points.

The roster of Guilty Gear Strive is pretty big, and choosing your character to play and win becomes somewhat difficult. One of the methods to know the real strength of fighting game characters is to check out who is picked up at the top-level esports tournaments. For GGST, we had such a chance at Combo Breaker 2024.

Let’s highlight what Guilty Gear Strive characters shined the best at this event! It is also interesting to take a look at who of the participants got precious Arc World Tour standing points and what the situation is in the global league general standings.

Combo Breaker 2024 Guilty Gear Strive: Stream and results

The GGST tournament was the third-most registered at Combo Breaker 2024. There were 867 attendees, which is an impressive number! Only Tekken 8 and Street Fighter 6 had more players.

Top 8 recap

TempestNYC entered the Top 8 part through the winners brackets, and his first match was against Supernoon. It looked like a pretty easy win for TempestNYC, but after losing two games, Supernoon fought back and brought the match to Game 5. TempestNYC stuck to Leo Whitefang to defeat Bridget and proceed to the winners final.

UMISHO played Sol Badguy, who was considered broken after the game release. With a better balance, Sol is still pretty strong. UMISHO defeated Happy Chaos of Aarondamac in the semi-final. But then, in a very close match against TempestNYC she fell to the losers, and then was eliminated by Zando.

Grand Final

The hunt for the AWT points motivated Zando to travel from Israel to Combo Breaker, and the player reached the grand final. Zando played one of the trickiest characters in Guilty Gear Strive — Asuka with his chaotic magic.

Once again in the GGST Combo Breaker 2024 tournament, TempestNYC got an early advantage in a match by winning two games in a row. And once again, an opponent took the fight to the deceive game.

It’s hard to block those floating cubes: they are everywhere! Zando was a round away from resetting the bracket. Still, TempestNYC rushed through magic, found openings at proper moments, and used Roman Cancel perfectly to reset the pressure and win the tournament.

TempestNYC is the Guilty Gear Strive Combo Breaker 2024 champion. Congratulations!
