Fortnite has been slowly introducing Sidekicks into the game, which are the newest type of cosmetics that go along with your Fortnite character. Winterfest has brought forth quite a few Sidekicks, including SpongeBob and Patrick, and will now introduce Baby Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Baby Groot is now a Sidekick in Fortnite
Groot first joined Fortnite back in Chapter 4, Season 2, but it was the full version of the infamous character. The Battle Pass at the time centered around Marvel, and featured various other Marvel Characters that players could unlock.
Well, now, Baby Groot is joining the game, but this time as a Sidekick. So, what is a Sidekick in Fortnite?
What is a Sidekick in Fortnite?
Unlike Back Blings, Sidekicks actually run alongside you in Fortnite. However, they do not actually fight with you. They simply just run alongside you and give random commentary at times. They give no extra competitive edge and are simply just there for moral support.
Other players can also not shoot Sidekicks, making them virtually invincible, but unable to do damage to other players. Basically, they are just a nice friend to have along for the ride.
Release date
So, when will Baby Groot release in Fortnite? While we do not have an actual release date, the Sidekick is expected to hit the Item Shop this weekend as apart of Winterfest, which has featured various other skins and cosmetics.
The game has consistently kept up with releasing various new skins during Winterfest, but this year is the first year they have ever had Sidekicks, making it an exciting new feature for gamers.
The price of Baby Groot in the Item Shop is unknown at the moment.
