A seemingly mysterious countdown has appeared in Fortnite. Here is what it’s counting down to an what to expect when it ends!

A countdown recently popped up in Fortnite, leaving players wondering what its purpose is. Sure enough, this in-game timer is counting down to the replay of an event that happened not too long ago. Epic Games recently confirmed it will air an encore of the "Rocket Landing" event on Saturday, Feb. 28, for anyone who missed it.

This article explains everything you need to know, including when the Fortnite countdown will end and how to watch the Rocket Landing encore.

The Fortnite countdown leads to the Rocket Landing event replay

Epic Games has confirmed that the current Fortnite countdown will conclude at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, Feb. 28. Once it reaches zero, a supposed Rocket Landing event replay will occur for those who missed it.

For reference, the first iteration occurred on Feb. 19 with almost no promotion from Epic Games beforehand. This led many players to miss the event entirely, despite leakers revealing it beforehand. It seems Epic Games is rectifying that decision by running it again on Feb. 28.

Although Epic is now marketing this as a replay, some fans have theorized that it could have time loop-related storyline implications. However, we won't know for sure until the countdown displayed in the Fortnite lobby and in-game concludes.

Watch the event to earn a free Loading Screen

As an added incentive, Epic Games will deliver a free "special" Loading Screen to all who tune in for the event on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET. It's unclear what this reward looks like, but it could come to light in the hours leading up to the Rocket Landing replay.

You can watch the event by queueing into a Battle Royale match in the minutes preceding 3:30 p.m., so try to give yourself plenty of time. Only time will tell if there is more to this event than what meets the eye.
