Another viral TikTok dance has made its way into Fortnite!

The Heel Click Breakdown is the newest Icon Series Emote to join Fortnite. Epic Games has heavily utilized popular TikTok dances to bolster its library of Emotes of late. In this case, the Heel Click Breakdown uses original music produced by artist Brent Faiyaz. The Emote is available now in the Fortnite Item Shop, and this article explains its origin.

Where did the Heel Click Breakdown Emote originate?

The song heard in the Heel Click Breakdown Emote is "Been Away" by Brent Faiyez from the album "F*** The World," released in 2020. As with many lesser-known songs, TikTok has the power to give a track more recognition, unlike any other platform. We've seen similar situations with other recent Icon Series Emotes. In the case of the Heel Click Breakdown, the choreography originates from New Zealand TikTok creator austintaylorrrr.

The choreography is identical to that in the video above, which Austin Taylor posted in October 2023. Since the original post, many other TikTok creators have followed suit as part of the platform's common dance challenge format. Austin Taylor even claimed credit for the Fortnite dance on Instagram, marking a genuinely wholesome moment in the creator's career.

How to unlock the new Emote in Fortnite

Those seeking the Heel Click Breakdown Emote can head to Fortnite's Item Shop. This Emote is the first option in the "Signature Style" tab under "Royale Originals." You can unlock the Emote for 500 V-Bucks, and it's useable in Battle Royale, Zero Build, LEGO Fortnite, and Fortnite Festival.

Various other Icon Series Emotes are also available in the Fortnite Item Shop. Many of these utilize viral TikTok dances similar to this Emote. We expect more TikTok-based Fortnite Emotes to hit the Item Shop in the future.
