Set in Kyoto during the early Edo period, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a single-player action game that features a city that's plagued by the demonic Genma. Instead of peace, there's an eerie and unsettling atmosphere with these monsters from another world. A lone samurai who's equipped with the Oni Gauntlet must engage in bloody and brutal fights against these monsters.

Onimusha has its roots in the Sengoku period, which is a time of civil wars and social unrest, and the franchise combines history with Japanese folklore. Additionally, according to an official announcement, Onimusha has also become one of Capcom's best-selling franchises thanks to these dark fantasy tales inspired by real historical events.
