“I will make you suffer, suffer like so many of the others.”
After a year of anticipation and speculation, Behaviour Interactive has finally lifted the fog (pun intended) on the Dead by Daylight (DBD) Five Nights at Freddy's (FNAF) chapter. The animatronic Springtrap will be DBD’s next killer, haunting the survivors on a new map inspired by Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.
It’s no surprise that a DBD: FNAF crossover has been the most requested licensed crossover in the game’s history. Developer Behaviour Interactive finally made that request a reality when it confirmed last August that an FNAF chapter was on the horizon.
Fast forward to now at PAX East, the studio finally revealed more information about this highly anticipated crossover, including its release window, legendary outfit, and more.

When is the Dead by Daylight: FNAF release date?
The DBD: FNAF chapter will launch in the summer of 2025. Behavior Interactive didn’t reveal a release date during its PAX East presentation. However, given that we just got the Steady Pulse update on May 6, it’s likely three to four months away — August or September!

Matthew Lillard returns as Springtrap in Dead by Daylight: FNAF crossover
One of the best things about these licensed character crossovers in DBD is that they are almost always voiced by their original actors. Fans were delighted to hear Matthew Porretta as Alan Wake again, albeit briefly, in last year’s Alan Wake crossover. Similarly, Bruce Campbell’s portrayal of Ash Williams in the Ash Vs Evil Dead chapter was well-regarded by the DBD community.
In that sense, the FNAF crossover is no different, as Matthew Lillard is set to return as Springtrap in DBD. For those unaware, Lillard played Springtrap in 2023’s FNAF live-action movie and reprises his role in its upcoming sequel, FNAF 2. Some fans may also recall Lillard as Shaggy Rogers in the many live-action Scooby-Doo! movies.
In addition to a new killer and a Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza-inspired map, the DBD: FNAF chapter will add the legendary “Yellow Rabbit” outfit for Springtrap. More details should follow in the months to come.
