Minecraft Championship Pride (MCC Pride) 2022 reveals its star-studded lineup of familiar faces among the Minecraft community and a couple few top streamers of the streaming community.

The beloved monthly Minecraft tournament, Minecraft Championship (MCC) returns once again in the middle of June! And of course, in celebration of Pride Month, it comes in the form of MCC Pride -the second of its kind. Furthermore, this is the fifth non-canon event and the twenty-seventh event overall. A Fundraiser for The Trevor Project

The event’s aim is also to raise money for The Trevor Project - a non-profit organization that focuses on suicide prevention in the LGBTQ community. For this purpose, MCC introduced donation milestones that viewers have to reach to unlock fun new twists in the games played. This year, they have added four new milestones that need to be achieved before the event starts.

Apart from the goals reached through donation milestones, you can surely expect a pride-themed makeover of MCC, from the Main Hub’s decor to the arrows of Dodgebolt that emit rainbow trails.

LGBT representation among the players in MCC Pride

Since MCC Pride is an event made in celebration of Pride Month, viewers of MCC have wondered whether all the participants would be people from the LGBT community. However, one of the organizers of the tournament, ScottSmajor commented that it would not be the case. This is due to the fact that they need streamers with a wider audience to increase the chances of having more money raised for charity. As a result, they promised the event to be a minimum of 50% participation from members of the community.

Unfortunately, there aren’t a lot of widely-known LGBT streamers. It is indeed an unfortunate reflection of how this space has yet to be fully inclusive of the LGBT community.

However, after the reveal of teams and players, we now know that more than half of the players participating are from the LGBT community! This year’s MCC Pride has more than double the amount of LGBT players from last year’s. This is a nice insight into where the gaming community is headed eventually if we continue to welcome and uplift all marginalized groups.

Make sure to tune in to any of the streamers above this Saturday, at 7 PM GMT, and visit mcc.live/pride to surely help the cause!
