Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can now enjoy games without a console or PC.

Microsoft has unveiled a partnership with Amazon on June 27 to bring Xbox Gaming to Amazon Fire TV Stick.

This collaboration between Microsoft and Amazon will allow Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers from over 25 countries to play games on the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) and Fire TV Stick 4K (2023), which are devices you can plug into your TV to turn it into a Smart TV.

The Xbox app will arrive on these devices soon and as a result of it, selected Game Pass subscribers will get to enjoy games without the need for a console as they'll play via cloud gaming.

The Xbox Game Pass catalog features over 100 games nowadays — including recent releases such as Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II and Starfield — so this is a cheap way to play games if you don't own an Xbox console or a PC that can run all new games.

"For people new to console gaming, or for those looking for another way to play, it’s a great low-cost, convenient, and portable option to enjoy a huge library of incredible games," Microsoft said in an official statement.

How much does it cost to start playing Xbox games on the Amazon Fire TV Stick?

People will have to spend around $59.99 to acquire the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (2023) or around $49.99 to buy the Fire TV Stick 4K (2023) to plug into a TV.

On top of that, they'll also need to sign up for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which costs $16.99 a month, and buy a Bluetooth wireless controller. The official Xbox wireless controller is selling for $49.99.

All in all, you'll have to spend around $117 to $127 to get started, and will have to renew your Game Pass Ultimate subscription for $16.99 every month.

Once the Xbox app is available on Amazon Fire TV in your country, here's what you have to do, according to Microsoft.

  1. Simply install and launch the Xbox app from your Fire TV device.
  2. Sign in with your Microsoft account to play. If you’re an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate member, you’ll have instant access to hundreds of cloud-enabled games.
  3. Not a member? No worries! You can join Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for one low monthly price, or check out Fortnite without a membership.
  4. Connect a Bluetooth-enabled wireless controller. Controllers like the Xbox Wireless Controller, Xbox Adaptive Controller, PlayStation DualSense, or DualShock 4 controller are all compatible.
  5. Start Playing!

Bear in mind, though, before acquiring an Amazon Fire TV Stick that Xbox hasn't listed what countries are eligible for this service.
