Former champions like SeseiSei, Waterloooooo, Maks7K and BeNice joined crowd favorites like XQN, Alutemu, RDU, Superjj, ixxdeee and Dog. These Qualifiers even saw ADVO's return after the expiration of his 6-month competitive ban.

Qualifier results: Lobby Legends #9

To make it to the Battlegrounds Lobby Legends main event, the players had to overcome two qualifying stages. In each stage, they were grouped into lobbies of 8 players, with only the 4 with the most points after three games advancing. The 48 initial players would turn into only 12 lucky winners.

Most of the front runners made it through the first stage. The most notable eliminations were the ones of SeseiSei, Superjj, BeNice and Dog.

The second stage of these Lobby legends was a heartbreaking experience for many Battlegrounds communities. Of the 24 survivors, only 12 would make it to the main event.

Zorgo's story

Zorgo, the Thijs' Twichtcon Tavern champion, was the protagonist of one of the highlights of the weekend. Zorgo misunderstood the starting time for the qualifiers. He only realized it after waking up and tuning in to other competitors' streams.

At first, he thought the stream titles were only announcements of what would come later the same day. Only after reading the 10-minute last warning message on Discord, he realized he was missing the most important event in his competitive career. If you want to learn more about this story, check out his recap.

Remember that 4 Chinese representatives will join these 12 players on December 2nd and 3rd for the $100,000 finals.

Coming up in Hearthstone Esports

On top of this final Battlegrounds Lobby Legends event for 2022, the Hearthstone esports calendar has another important date to remember. On December 16th, the Hearthstone World Championship will take place with $500,000 in prizes.

The pinnacle of competitive Hearthstone will happen only 10 days after the March of the Lich King expansion launch. With the new Death Knight class coming to the game, the expectations are higher than ever.

We are still waiting on news about 2023 Hearthstone esports. While we know that there will be a World Championship in the upcoming year, the Battlegrounds scene is eager for updates on the Lobby Legends system.
