All teams qualified for the 2022 League of Legends World Championship

The 2022 League of Legends World Championship is just few weeks away and several teams from the various regions have qualified for the event. The international event will begin on September 29 at Arena Esports Stadium in Mexico. It will involve 24 teams all competing to lift a brand new trophy and a share of the $2,225,000 prize pool.

Furthermore, just like the previous year, the LPL and LCK will have four seeds competing at the event. The LEC will also have four seed but its third and fourth seed will begin the event in the Play-In stage. Apart from the LCL, all recognized domestic leagues will have at least one representative at the World Championship.

After an entertaining and competitive summer split, here are the teams that have qualified for Worlds 2022.

The LPL is one of the major regions heading to Worlds with four teams and they remain favorites to win it all. The region returns to Worlds with the defending World champions (EDG), the current MSI champions (RNG) as well as the regional summer champions (JD Gaming) and runners-up(Top Esports). The LPL have won three out of the last four World Championship and looking at the caliber of their teams, they may just do so again.

The LCK was the first among the major regions to determine their top two seeds and end their summer split. The LCK summer split was all about the Gen.G story as the team dominated the region from Week 1 to Week 9. Gen.G breezed their way past the LCK playoffs and secured the top spot with a cleansweep against T1. While T1 are not the favorite Korean team heading to Worlds, it will be a mistake to sleep on them.

T1 have won the tournament more times than any other team at the event and will rely on the experience and quality of Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok to win it all. Additionally, former winners DWG KIA as well as DRX who made it to the quarterfinals in 2020 also qualified through the regional qualifiers.

The LEC will have four of arguably their strongest teams at Worlds. MAD Lions bounced back after a tough spring to finish second in the regular summer split. Even though they lost the two best-of-five series they played in Playoffs, Misfits loss to G2 was enough for them to clinch a ticket to NA.

Meanwhile, Fnatic clawed their way from the lowers bracket and had to take down both Excel and Misfits to make it to Worlds. Both G2 and Rogue had easier paths to Worlds as they qualified through the upper bracket first round of playoffs. While G2 look the likeliest to make a deep run at the event, you cannot count the remaining teams out.

The LCS summer playoffs has been one of close games and hard fought battles between all teams. None of the series played ended with a cleansweep with most going the full distance. After an average regular summer split, Cloud9 showed a different side in the playoffs to earn a spot in the LCS finals as well as a ticket to Worlds group stage.

For 100 Thieves, their loss to C9 in the semi finals did not mean much as they had already secured their Worlds spot in Round 2 of the playoffs. Meanwhile, Evil Geniuses knocked out the Team Liquid super team to secure the last LCS Worlds spot. While it is hard to predict the NA team that will be the best at Worlds, fans will expect C9 and possibly EG to carry the hopes of NA.

After a two-year absence, the boys from Vietnam are back with a bang. The VCS region have been victims of the COVID-19 pandemic and travel restrictions since 2020. However, that is no longer the case as two VCS teams will represent the region at Worlds 2022.

While most people know Saigon Buffalo from MSI, GAM Esports are the VCS summer champions and were also the team meant to represent the region at MSI. GAM dominated the VCS summer split and clean sweeped both Team Secret and Saigon to win the summer finals.

PSG Talon is a name that has become synonymous with the PCS in international events. However, the team will not be at Worlds 2022 as they failed to qualify after losing to Beyond Gaming in the summer playoffs. CBTC Flying Oyster are a new team that joined the PCS in January 2022.

They made it to the grand finals of the spring split but were unable to defeat PSG Talon. In summer, they've been able to exact their revenge as they sent PSG Talon to the lower brackets of the playoffs and secured a Worlds spot for themselves.

Once again the kings of Japan return to the World stage looking to make a more deeper run than they did in 2021. DetonatioN FocusMe made League of Legends history as they became the first LJL team to advance to the group stage last year. While the team is much different now, DFM will hope that they make it to the main event once again.

LLA 2022 Closing champions Isurus makes their return to the Worlds stage after their appearance in 2019. While the region has had a tough time at international events, Isurus will be eager to prove their strength in the Play-Ins. They bounced back from the lower brackets of the LLA Closing Playoffs to take a 3-2 win against the dominant Estral Esports.

LOUD are an organization known already for their dominance in the Brazilian Valorant scene and they have translated that to League of Legends. LOUD failed to make the CBLOL playoffs in split 1 but made up for it in the second split. The team clinched the only ticket for the region to the Play-In stage after an impressive 3-0 win against the experienced paiN Gaming.

There is perhaps no LCO team that deserves the regions Worlds 2022 spot than Chief Esports Club. Chiefs finished the regular split unbeaten with a 21-0 record and only dropped one game in the playoffs. Chiefs have experienced two International Wildcard tournaments both in 2015 and 2016.

Additionally, the first to third seeds of the LCS and the LEC will be determined from September 10 to 11.
