Faker, Keria, Oner inducted as “Stars” of the KeSPA Esports Hall of Fame 2024.
After his recent win at The Game Awards 2024, Faker stole the spotlight again by being inducted into the Esports Hall of Fame 2024. He was named as one of the "Stars" alongside fellow teammates Keria and Oner, among others, while T1 was named Team of the Year.
What is Esports Hall of Fame?
The Esports Hall of Fame is an annual esports award hosted by the Korea e-Sports Association (KeSPA) and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism. The 2024 Esports Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held on December 19 at the Esports Hall of Fame in Mapo-gu, Seoul, South Korea.
As a place to honor and commemorate South Korean esports athletes who have competed in domestic and international events throughout the year, inductees are selected in three categories:
- Heroes: Players who meet the criteria for active player inductees:
- Comprehensive competition and global final level: runner-up or higher
- General competition: Win more than 3 times
- StarCraft Pro League: 100 or more wins
- LoL Championship Korea: Over 1,000 kills or over 2,000 assists - Stars: Players who have performed well at domestic and international competitions, selected through voting.
- Honors: Retired players selected as permanent inductees.
This year's ceremony was attended by about 50 esports players and officials and was broadcasted online simultaneously with the offline event.
How are the inductees selected?
The selection of 2024 inductees began with the inspection team reviewing the performance records of players who competed in domestic and international competitions from December 1, 2023, to November 30, 2024.
Based on this review, the induction ceremony selection committee—comprising representatives from various fields such as media, broadcasters, sports companies, and team secretariats—nominated candidates for the "Heroes" and "Stars" categories. Final inductees were determined through a combination of committee votes and public voting, with the "Stars" category finalized through online fan votes.
The 2024 "Stars" were selected via online fan voting, with 27,836 fans participating—approximately 1.5 times more than last year. This year's nominees included:
- League of Legends: GEN Canyon, GEN Kiin, GEN (former) Peyz, GEN (former) Lehends, GEN Chovy, T1 Faker, T1 Keria, T1 Oner, T1 Gumayusi, T1 (former) Zeus
- Valorant: GEN t3xture, GEN Karon, GEN Lakia, GEN Munchkin, T1 Meteor
- PUBG BATTLEGROUNDS: seoul, Salute
- Tekken 8: KDF ULSAN
The top six players selected by fan voting were announced at the induction ceremony and will be displayed at the Esports Hall of Fame for one year. A maximum of three players from the same sport can be selected.
