Respawning towers? Map skins are back? League of Legends 2025 has a lot in store.

A fan-favorite feature is returning to League of Legends in 2025 Season One: Map Skins. Riot Games will outfit the Summoner's Rift with Noxus-themed turrets, Nexuses (Nexii?), and more.

One quick thing before we get into the map skins: Nexus turrets will now respawn! According to Riot Games, the goal was to alleviate the hopelessness that players feel when losing both Nexus Turrets. While we don't know how long the turrets will take to respawn, we do know that they'll be full health, good-as-new when they do.

In alignment with the theme of 2025 Season One, Noxus, the Summoner's Rift is getting a makeover fit for the region. This will involve everything from the turrets, nexus, the ground, and even the shopkeepers.

Riot is also introducing a new Epic Monster, Atakhan, to complete the Noxus theme of the map. Don't worry though, your beloved Void-related monsters (and grubs!) are not going anywhere.

This is a part of the new approach to seasons that League of Legends will be implementing come 2025. "As part of Seasons, we want to make sure the connection to the theme of each Season doesn’t end as soon as you hit the Play button. We want to take advantage of League’s deep well of stories and lore to carry the immersion into the Rift and League’s gameplay," says the LoL dev team.

They didn't want to change the whole map though, so the blue buff and the river will remain lush, and the lanes retain their dirt paths - albeit with a slightly different hue.

These map changes will be live during Season 1, which will encompass (roughly) the first 1/3rd of the year. Each new Season will feature a different region in Runeterra, which means we might get a different look for the map then.

For those waiting on the winter map, the devs also have a word for you:

We’re sure a bunch of you are already thinking about what that means for later in the year (winter map when?), but unfortunately we don’t have any updates on if or when the winter map will make a return. For now, we hope you’ll enjoy the Noxian views instead.
