It’s the final match to decide the ultimate winner: the League of Legends 2024 World Champion.

Both teams made it through challenges to reach the League of Legends Worlds 2024 (LoL Worlds 2024) Finals. T1 struggled to qualify for this World Championship as they earned their spot only in the very last regional match.

But then, the legendary players unleashed their true power and destroyed quite a few mighty opponents. BLG had a slow start in the Swiss Stage. They needed to play all five matches to advance to the Knockout Stage. Their recovery also was brilliantly impressive.

T1 and BLG were at the peak of their performance. They were totally ready to battle it out in the final match of the biggest and the most important LoL esports tournament of the year. The community was ready to cheer for them.

Match recap: BLG vs T1

The LoL Worlds 2024 grand final between BLG and T1 was such a back-and-forth match — from game to game! When a team dominated, that was a complete destruction of their opponents. It was especially obvious in the first three games, then the battles became slightly more even.

BLG started with The First Blood each time. They were the first to win a game. And BLG players were the first to reach the match and tournament point. But when T1 struck back, they did it with such power that BLG just couldn’t properly recover.

In Game 5, everything could go both ways. But T1 won an absolutely crucial team fight, and that success carried the Korean team to their back-to-back World Champion title. Congratulations!

Faker was a true MVP of the grand final! He was in the best places at the best moments. He was a threat and an uncatchable target. This victory of T1 is based on Faker’s amazing talent.

Game 1

BLG started the match with a super early kill. Then, the teams proceeded to the standard laning phase, with no lane swap this time. Two more kills for BLG happened in just 6 minutes, and T1 couldn’t give a proper response.

In general, BLG unleashed their pressure from the very beginning, actively looking for fights. This approach helped BLG get the first Dragon and four Voidgrubs, even if Gumayusi stole one with Caitlyn’s kill.

T1 struck back in the next team fight, and they secured two kills, showing their might and potential. But when they wanted to repeat that success, BLG killed three opponents. The advantage for BLG reached 5k gold, and the kill counter was 9:3 in favor of Bilibili Gaming. Even the Top Inhibitor turret of T1 was destroyed around minute 18.

Pretty soon, BLG started Baron, but that was just bait. When T1 tried to interfere, BLG killed Gumayusi first. Without their carry, T1 just failed in that fight. BLG got the Baron buff, their third Dragon, and two Inhibitors of their opponents. The destruction of T1’s Nexus was inevitable. BLG earned the first point in the LoL Worlds 2024 Finals score.

Game 2

Once again, BLG got a super early First Blood: it was a level 1 kill for Elk. Still, T1 were quick with a response. On the next attack, around minute 4, they got their three kills and denied this advantage of BLG.

Even more kills went for T1 in the next team fight. It felt like BLG couldn’t follow the pace of their opponents. They secured the first Dragon but only as a trade for six Voidgrubs for T1. The gold advantage reached 3k for T1 around minute 12.

When BLG hoped to fight around Rift Herald, they just fell victims to T1’s growing power: three BLG champions died there.

In the following couple of fights, BLG fell behind even more. Around Baron, T1 earned Ace, got the Baron buff, started their siege, and destroyed BLG’s Nexus. The Korean team made the score even.

Game 3

The First Blood for BLG became a tradition of this LoL Worlds 2024 Finals event. In Game 3, the kill happened later, around minute 4. And in two minutes, BLG killed Sylas of Faker.

Kills continued snowballing for BLG. Before the second pack of Voidgrubs, the Chinese team earned three more, and they got five Grubs for the turret destruction. BLG pressured on Top and secured two turrets. T1 also got one turret on Mid, but they were already 4.5k gold down.

Even with kill trades, but BLG still insisted on destroying T1’s turrets, one after another. Team fights looked almost hopeless for T1. After one of such clashes, BLG got four kills and the Baron buff. In a classic League of Legends way, BLG used this chance to start their siege, and they destroyed all three Inhibitors. T1 got a kill in that situation, but it was a very, very small reward.

On the next siege wave, BLG left no chance for T1. Bilibili Gaming reached the match and Championship point!

Game 4

Who do you think got The First Blood around minute 4? Yes, BLG! And they had three kills in just two minutes. The early advantage was delivered for BLG.

T1 tried their own aggressive moves, but they brought no kills. Still, T1 secured three Voidgrubs and the first Dragon. Then, Faker reignited hope with his solo kill on the Top lane. The next point in this snowballing run for T1 was the full second pack of Grubs. Then, a team fight made the kill score even between BLG and T1.

Such success caused slight overconfidence for T1. They pushed through Top, but BLG responded excellently. Smolder of knight became the power to save BLG from spiraling down. That fight brought Bilibili Gaming three kills, but the game was far from over.

With a lightning attack via Mid, T1 suddenly got the upper hand in a team fight. The kills, Mid turret, and Baron were their rewards. Soon, a Soul and a 5k gold advantage were also theirs.

When XUN was down, T1 secured Baron and continued pressuring their opponents. They didn’t need to fight for the Elder Dragon. T1 just won another fight and the entire game. Both BLG and T1 needed one more point in the general score to win the League of Legend World Championship 2024.

Game 5

Yet another First Kill by BLG started Game 5, at around minute 3. And again, T1 responded nicely to that — after an ambush near the Baron pit, they won a fight, earned two kills, and secured three Voidgrubs with one Dragon.

BLG did not give up so soon. They attacked their opponents pretty successfully and got one Grub. The gold advantage for T1 wasn’t too significant at that point, and the game was pretty even.

T1 looked stronger in terms of map control and turret destruction. BLG avoided kills and did not let their opponent go too much ahead with items.

Everything changed at minute 30. In a chaotic fight, T1 got Ace, and the remaining three players secured Baron. Killing Galio of Faker was such a challenge for BLG! They could not deal with that power, and especially with the Baron buff on T1’s side. Another team fight was lost, and BLG’s Nexus was destroyed.

T1 won the game, the match, and the League of Legends World Championship 2024!

Head-to-head match

The final match of the LoL Worlds 2024 event combines two head-to-head records. It sure is a continuation of the personal competition between these teams: T1 vs BLG. Also, it’s the inter-regional battle: LoL Pro League (LPL China) versus LoL Champions Korea (LCK).

LCK vs LPL

As for the ultimate battles on the international scene, Korean teams have been more successful in the recent big official events. Still, Chinese LoL teams earned some good wins, too.

T1 won the LoL World Championship 2023. They defeated three Chinese teams during their Knockout Stage run — literally in every playoff match. Gen.G are the Mid-Season 2024 (MSI 2024) champions. They had three victories over LPL teams, including twice over BLG.

The final match at MSI 2023 was between two Chinese teams. Both of them, JD Gaming and BLG, defeated Korean powerhouses during that event: Gen.G and T1.  JD Gaming celebrated the ultimate victory back then.

LPL versus LCK was the main topic at the LoL Worlds 2022, with both sides taking wins. In the playoffs, T1 destroyed two Chinese opponents on their way to the finals, but then they lost to another Korean team, DRX.

T1 vs BLG

On the team level, the recent head-to-head record is in favor of BLG, but T1 won their most recent battle at LoL Worlds 2024. During the Swiss Stage, BLG and T1 played in Round 3. T1 got victory that best-of-one (Bo1) match.

During MSI 2024, the community witnessed two BLG vs T1 matches, and Bilibili Gaming won both of them: in the upper-bracket semifinal and the lower-bracket final.

The teams did not face each other during Worlds 2023, the victorious event for T1. During the MSI 2023, BLG eliminated T1 in the lower final.

After LoL Worlds 2024, the official competition has a break. It continues with regional tournaments, which lead to a brand-new international event, the third one in the yearly schedule. For all LoL news and updates, stick around on esports.gg!
