There's no shortage of League of Legends esports events this year, and one of them involves China's League of Legends Pro League 2025 (LPL 2025) circuit. The circuit features three splits, culminating in the LPL 2025 Grand Finals where only three teams will secure a spot at Worlds 2025. The LPL 2025 season includes Split 1, Split 1 Playoffs, Split 2 Placements, Split 2, Split 2 Playoffs, Split 3, plus with the LPL 2025 Grand Finals. The esports action kicked off with Split 1, which runs from Jan. 12 to Feb. 16 and features 16 teams in total. In terms of the format, LPL 2025 Split 1 features 16 teams divided into four groups based on placements from 2024. These four groups of four teams must duke it out in single round-robin, best-of-five (Bo5) matches under the Hard Fearless Draft format. This means champions can only be picked once per series by either team. Additionally, the Game 1 side selection gets decided by a one-versus-one (1v1) solo match — with the top two teams from each group heading to the LPL 2025 Split 1 Playoffs.

The LPL 2025 Split 1 Playoffs then features eight teams fighting in Bo5 matches under the double-elimination format. These matches use the Hard Fearless Draft format as well. In terms of what's at stake, whichever team wins the LPL 2025 Split 1 Playoffs gets a spot in the First Stand 2025 tournament.
