Who is Mel Medarda?
In the Arcane universe, Mel is an aristocrat, politician, and a member of Piltover's ruling council. In Arcane Season 1, Mel learned about the potential of Hextech during Jayce Talis' trial. She then helped Jayce and Viktor prove to Heimerdinger that Hextech is the future.
Later, Mel guided Jayce into becoming a political leader in Piltover. She and Jayce also eventually removed Heimerdinger from his position of power. As tensions between Piltover and Zaun escalated, Mel advised Jayce to develop Hextech weaponry in order to protect Piltover.
Before reuniting with her mother, Ambessa, Mel was haunted by memories of her clan's ruthlessness. While Ambessa pushed for war with Zaun, Mel advocated for diplomacy. Meanwhile, Jayce, initially manipulated by Ambessa, led a raid on Zaun before having a change of heart after seeing the cost of war.
Upon learning her mother's true motive, which was to exploit the conflict for personal gain, Mel cut ties with her and supported Jayce's peace deal with Silco. However, before that agreement was finalized, Jinx attacked the council chambers.
