T1 and Faker, advancing to LoL Worlds for the ninth time since debut, is now aiming for their fifth trophy.

Four-time League of Legends (LoL) Worlds champion, T1, qualifies for Worlds 2024 after a hard-fought journey through the LCK Regional Finals. Additionally, this resulted in T1’s historic ninth appearance at the pinnacle of LoL Esports, making them the only team to reach this achievement.

T1 ninth Worlds appearances

T1’s road to qualifying for Worlds 2024 has been very challenging. Gen.G Esports, having secured their place as the LCK representative by winning MSI 2024, left T1 with three opportunities to make it to Worlds.

Their first attempt came in the LCK Summer Split, where they fell short after a tough loss to Hanwha Life Esports (HLE) in the lower bracket final. The team's remaining chances were in the LCK Regional Finals, where four top LCK teams, excluding Gen.G and HLE, compete for the remaining spots.

T1’s second chance slipped away in a narrow 3-2 series against Dplus KIA. However, in their final shot to qualify, T1 faced KT Rolster in a tense 3-2 showdown. With their backs against the wall, T1 managed to pull off the victory, securing their place at Worlds 2024 as the LCK's fourth seed.

With this result, it marks T1’s ninth appearance at Worlds since their debut in 2013. They’ve only missed the tournament three times and record an impressive 50 success rate, winning four championships out of their eight previous appearances.

Notably, Faker has been in all of T1's journey, as the only player with nine Worlds appearances and four Worlds titles, and is on his way to securing the fifth. The players that have come close are CoreJJ, Deft, Doublelift, Impact, Jensen, Maple, and Xiaohu — all with eight appearances.

During the onstage interview translated by Helen Jang after beating KT and advancing to the Worlds 2024, Faker gave a brief comment regarding this achievement, saying "We were in a situation where we might not be able to make it to Worlds, but being able to be given that chance, I'm just very grateful and I want to make sure that we make the most out of it."

Faker has been playing LoL for so long and has seen ups and downs throughout this year. Earlier this year, Faker was named as the first inductee for the Hall of Legends, even having his own "Faker Temple", while during the Summer split, he was struggling with post-game distress and reportedly tested positive for COVID-19.

Faker and T1 first match at the Worlds 2024 will be on the Swiss Stage which will be held from October 3 to 13. Stay tuned on esports.gg for T1 and Faker's journey through the Worlds 2024.
