Expect some changes to our beloved ranked mode in Marvel Rivals Season 2, including a new rotation of maps.

Marvel Rivals Season 2 is quickly approaching. We've got two new characters coming through with the theme of the Hellfire Gala. We've got Team-Ups changing. And there are some changes being made to the Marvel Rivals ranked mode.

If you're a ranked grinder, you're going to want to buckle up and check out this one.

Everything that is changing with Marvel Rivals ranked starting in Season 2

We'll start with the obvious. Players will end Season 1.5 with a rank if they played the competitive queue at all. When Season 2 starts, that rank will change based on your final standing. You'll drop down nine divisions in total, with the example being a Diamond 1 player moves down to Silver 1.

It gets a bit more in-depth after that, so let's go piece by piece from the Dev Vision diary video.

Introducing a map rotation

New maps and modes will always arrive in Marvel Rivals depending on the theme of a Season. With Season 2, the Hellfire Gala takes place on the Mutant sanctuary island of Krakoa. It enters the game as a map.

The increase in maps sees a change in the Marvel Rivals ranked mode. The team is now introducing a map pool, where maps will rotate in and out. For Season 2, the Hellfire Gala Krakoa map enters the competitive system.

That will see the removal of Yggsgard Royal Palace and Tokyo 2099 Shin-Shibuya from the ranked mode. All maps will remain available in quick play and in custom games, so you can still utilize them if you want to.

Bans now start with Gold 3

Marvel Rivals will raise the minimum account level requirement for its ranked mode. In Season 2, new players must be Level 15 in order to enter the Competitive queue.

The pick and ban system that started for ranked players at Diamond 3 now begins much earlier. You will see picks and bans implemented if every player is ranked Gold 3 or above. In addition, Eternity and One Above All players can only duo queue from now.

Individual performance will also make more of a difference in ranked point adjustment come Season 2. So, stay tuned to esports.gg for more esports news and Marvel Rivals coverage.
