MLBB M6 Knockout stage: Battles for the World Champions title

Many exciting matches happened during the initial stages of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) World Championship 2024 event. The Wildcard stage was similar to a massive Battle Royale experience — only one team made it through. The Swiss stage featured the 16 best teams in the world striving to survive this marathon-like run. But even that level of MLBB esports competition can’t be compared to the toughness and greatness of the M6 Knockout stage.

After winning their starting stages, four MLBB esports teams advanced to the upper-bracket semifinal. They battle for two spots in the upper final.

Fnatic ONIC PH won Game 1 quickly: they started a brave siege at around minute 11 and wiped out all the opponents. In Game 2, Fnatic ONIC PH needed more time to win. The Fnatic players farmed their advantage thoroughly: to get the full power and, with the Lord on their side, successfully invade Falcon's base.

Falcon Esports didn't give up on the MLBB esports battle that easily. They responded with their quick and dominant Game 3. Having no big kill advantage, the Falcon players started the siege and won. Game 4 also went well for Falcon Esports, even if it was longer. The team developed their advantage properly, waited for their heroes getting super power, and at the right moment, they destroyed the base of Fnatic.

The decisive game was filled with intense team fights. Fnatic ONIC PH got an early advantage, and they were careful with their pushes to not waste that power. Falcon Esports resisted perfectly: with one Lord siege being stopped and some good kills delivered. But after another team fight, Fnatic eliminated four opponents and won this match. Fnatic ONIC PH advance to the upper final.

Team Liquid ID started Games 1 and 2 in the upper semifinal of the MLBB M6 quite aggressively. They invaded the side of RRQ Hoshi early, securing objectives. In Game 1, this approach brought TLID quick success. With the second Lord secured, TLID started the siege and, despite having a shaky fight, won the game.

In Game 2, the opponents were better organized in team fights, and Team Liquid ID did not risk early pushes. Only in a super chaotic fight for the fourth Lord, TLID wiped out RRQ Hoshi, got the objective, and earned the match point.

RRQ Hoshi responded well in Games 3 and 4. Team Liquid ID couldn't chase the gold and level lead of their opponents. In Game 3, RRQ Hoshi got three Turtles and the first Lord. They succeeded in an early team fight, eliminated the entire Team Liquid and remained alive in the match. In Game 4, RRQ Hoshi quickly became a threat in team fights. They easily secured the second Lord and destroyed TL's base after that.

This full reverse sweep did not happen for RRQ Hoshi, though. The decisive Game 5 was even in the beginning, but then TL could build up their advantage. They steadily dominated the pace through the entire, pretty long battle. After destroying all the Inhibitor turrets and securing the fourth Lord, Team Liquid ID won the match and earned their spot at the upper-bracket final of the MLBB esports M6 World Championship.

Two losses in the Knockout stage, and the teams were out of the M6 World Championship. The winners continued their run in the elimination brackets.

It looked like Team Vamos had an advantage in Game 1 and could win it. They secured the Lord and sent him to the base of Team Spirit. But that fight went awfully wrong for Vamos. The Spirit players wiped them out, started their siege, and won Game 1.

In Game 2, Team Vamos did not repeat the mistake of overstepping. They were more successful in building their level advantage, and they did not rush to the base with the first Lord. Only when a team fight went the way of Team Vamos, the players made the final push and won.

An early advantage in Game 3 did not save Team Vamos from a bitter mistake. They got overconfident in a team fight, and their opponents earn Triple Kill thanks to that. The snowballing effect lead to the Lord on the side of Team Spirit and a successful base siege. Team Spirit reached the match point.

In Game 4, Team Spirit used the strategy of grouping constantly to dominate in all the interactions. That did not bring a quick win, as Team Vamos were defending brilliantly. But you can't be always in defense in Mobile Legends esports. After a long, back-and-forth battle, Team Spirit won and eliminated Team Vamos from the M6 World Championship.

Selangor Red Giants won their match against NIP Flash with a clear 3:0. Game 1 was pretty close, and NIP Flash were 1,000 gold ahead at some point. Then, a fight around the first Lord went so well for SRG! They were brave in their offense, got kills, a gold boost, and the objective. Selangor Red Giants did not need to wait for the next Lord. They won a team fight and went for a siege to earn their first point in the score.

The start of Game 2 looked very promising for NIP Flash. The team was ahead in terms of kills and gold. This probably created some overconfidence, as NIP acted recklessly in team fights. At the same time, SRG farmed patiently and struck at the best situation. In the blink of an eye, the game control was in their hand. Selangor Red Giants sealed the deal with a second Lord fight. They started a siege, destroyed all the turrets, and then just eliminated the entire NIP Flash team.

And again NIP Flash had a good game start. Three Turrets were theirs. They secured the first Lord and pressured SRG effectively. And then, once again, one single team fight turned everything around. Selangor Red Giants attacked brilliantly, and there was no more advantage for NIP Flash. Snowballing from that point still took some time for SRG. But eventually, Selangor Red Giants started their siege and won a chaotic fight on the base of NIP Flash.

This tournament round determines two more teams eliminated from the M6 event.

In terms of kills, Game 1 was slow. Both teams focused on farming and looking for better positioning. Somehow, Team Spirit did that better. With the second Lord on their side, they started a siege. When it felt like Falcon Esports could defend their base this time, TS went for another offensive wave and won.

The cautious start repeated in Game 2. The Falcon players were slightly ahead with gold, but Team Spirit accumulated kills. Aggressiveness in team fights brought the Spirit players two Lords and one more point in the match score.

Around minute 12 of Game 3, the teams were pretty close in kills and gold. Falcon Esports had a slight advantage. It helped them secure two Lords, win a massive fight, and survive one more game in the MLBB M6 World Championship.

Team Spirit simply dominated Game 4. After securing the first Lord, they started a siege and eliminated their opponents: from the match and from the tournament

RRQ Hoshi earned a solid advantage in Game 1 of their M6 match against Selangor Red Giants. They secured two Lords and made some siege attempts. But SRG were so good at defense! They won a crucial team fight around the fourth Lord and destroyed the base of their opponents even without this objective.

Game 2 started with the same pattern: a decent advantage for RRQ Hoshi. But they did not let it evaporate this time. After a couple of destructive siege attempts, RRQ Hoshi finished this game with a win.

In Game 3, it was SRG's turn to enjoy the early power spike. They did not overstep with it. A siege with the first Lord destroyed the base’s defense. After a reset, SRG returned for more kills, the second Lord, and the match point.

That was a good scenario for Selangor Red Giants, so they repeated it in Game 4. Only this time, a siege with the first Lord was enough. SRG wiped out the entire RRQ Hoshi — and they ruined the hopes of their opponents in the MLBB World Championship 2024 event.

Three wins during the Knockout stage, and a team advanced to the MLBB M6 grand final. Reaching this far is a great achievement on its own.

To advance to the MLBB M6 Finals, the eight teams had to make it through the Swiss stage. Below is their journey in a nutshell.

Both these teams experienced only victories during the Swiss stage. 

One loss can be considered extra experience for these teams, as they still qualified for the MLBB M6 Knockout stage.

These MLBB esports teams took the longest pass at the M6 Swiss stage: all five rounds. Only in the last games they managed to qualify for the Knockout stage.
