Out of 16, only eight teams will make it through to the knockout stage.

The play-ins of the League of Legends: Wild Rift Icons Global Championship 2022 is over, and all 16 teams in the group stage have been locked in. The group stage will take place from June 21 to 25 with only eight teams advancing to the Knockouts.

The Wild Rift Icons 2022 is taking place in the Suntec Convention and Exhibition Center in Singapore. The teams are competing for the title of the inaugural Wild Rift world champions and a share of the $2 million prize pool.

Here is how the groups have shaped up in the Wild Rift Icons 2022.

Wild Rift Icons 2022 Group stage draw result

Group A

  • Team Flash
  • Leviatán
  • Nova Esports
  • T1

With the SEA first seeds, Team Flash in group A, a lot of eyeballs will be on this group. Nova Esports from China, who powered through the play-ins without losing a single series, are also looking strong in this group.

That’s not all, though, as carrying Korea's hopes are T1, who are one of the most successful League of Legends teams. Fans will be looking to see if they will be able to replicate that performance in the Wild Rift Icons.

Leviatán, the Latin American champions, may not be from a region considered as strong in Wild Rift. Nonetheless, after dominating locally, they will be looking to make it to the knockouts and upset one of the other favorites of the group.

Group B

  • Sengoku Gaming
  • Team Queso
  • J Team
  • RRQ

Sengoku Gaming and Team Queso both have international experience as they competed in the Wild Rift Horizon Cup last year. While they were knocked out early in the competition, they have returned in 2022 and will be hungry for a much better performance.

Sengoku, besides a new support player, is running almost the same lineup with which it competed last year. Team Queso, on the other hand, have brought in three new players for the 2022 season.

Both teams will undoubtedly face stiff competition from the Chinese team, J Team, and RRQ from SEA. J Team have stormed into the Wild Rift Icons group stage after a dominant play-ins and will be one of the favorites in the group.

Group C

  • FunPlus Phoenix
  • Omegha Esports
  • Buriram United Esports
  • Flash Wolves

Group C contains the Chinese champions, FPX, who are one of the favorites to take home the trophy. In the Horizon Cup last year, Chinese teams dominated and FPX will be looking to replicate that for the region at the Wild Rift Icons.

The group also contains two teams from Southeast Asia, Buriram United and Flash Wolves. Buriram are looking extremely strong after winning in their play-ins group and will be the second favorites to make it out of this group.

Group D

  • Rolster Y
  • Immortals
  • JD Gaming
  • Liberty

Group D contains the Korean champions, Rolster Y, who placed third to fourth in the Horizon Cup. After narrowly losing out in the semifinals last year, they are undoubtedly aiming to become the champions.

China’s JD Gaming are also looking strong after a dominant showing in the play-ins. They will be looking to capitalize on their momentum and make it through the knockouts.

Liberty, who upset North America’s Sentinels in the play-ins, are the underdogs in this group. The sole North American representatives left at Icons, Immortals, will also be looking to carry NA’s hopes further into the Wild Rift Icons.
