It’s time for really serious and super bloody Mortal Kombat fights. SonicFox is sure aiming for the top 1 spot in Pro Kompetition 2025, but the gap to the leader is huge.

The official Mortal Kombat 1 (MK1) esports league is tough and unforgiving this year. With just a few offline qualifiers, players have little space for mistakes: every event should bring top results. Is this an intentional reflection of cruel in-game battles?

Combo Breaker 2025 hosts a top-tier MK1 Demi God tournament. Only one remains after it: Evo 2025. If players want to earn Pro Kompetition standing points, they should do it here. Otherwise, it’s a Fatality for their Final Kombat plans.

The top competitors are eager to strengthen their leaderboard positions or use this chance to boost themselves up to the top 8 qualification limit. Participating in the Final Kombat 2025 is quite an honor for Mortal Kombat players — especially considering the uncertainty around the game’s future.

Everything about MK1 Combo Breaker 2025 is here: the stream, schedule, results, and a Pro Kompetition 2025 overview.

For this tournament, Combo Breaker 2025 partnered with two Twitch channels.

MK1 Combo Breaker 2025: Final standings

After a few initial tournaments of Pro Kompetition 2025, one player was a strong leader. And they were not SonicFox.

  • Kanimani won a Demi God qualifier at viennality 2k25 and a Kombatant event at Brussels Challenge 2025. With a limited format of Pro Kompetition 2025, Kanimani has already qualified for the Final Kombat — even through the online regional finals. The player skips Combo Breaker.
  • SonicFox won two Kombatant tournaments: MK1 Texas Showdown 2025 and MK1 Pro Kompetition Mexico. They are 2nd on the leaderboard before Combo Breaker — and that certainly can change.
  • yTecZ won one tournament so far, and he is 3rd on the leaderboard. gamescom LATAM was the previous Demi God qualifier, so the player can skip Combo Breaker 2025 as well.

Only the top 8 Pro Kompetition 2025 participants advance to the Final Kombat 2025 event. Some players from abroad decided to travel to the USA to earn standing points.

There is another way to qualify for Final Kombat: via online regional tournaments. This certainly brings results, but doesn’t feel as powerful as succeeding at in-person events.

In addition to being a great Mortal Kombat player, SonicFox tries out their strengths in the FATAL FURY: City of the Wolves tournament at Combo Breaker 2025.

SonicFox lost their first match in the final brackets: to VideoGamezYo. However, the player recovered nicely on the losers side. He eliminated three opponents, including VideoGamezYo in the final.

The grand final was between Rewind and SonicFox. They face each other quite often on such a high level of Mortal Kombat esports — and SonicFox usually wins. This match was no exception. After resetting the brackets with a pretty close fight, SonicFox won the decisive battle rather confidently.

SonicFox is the MK1 Champion at Combo Breaker 2025!

The future of Mortal Kombat 1: No more DLC

The release of MK1: Definitive Edition made the community extremely worried about the future of this game. Esports events still keep Mortal Kombat 1 alive, but right during Combo Breaker 2025, it was confirmed that NetherRealm Studio is not going to release Kombat Pack 3: no more DLC characters from MK1.

The next Kombatant-tier qualifier is at CEO 2025, from June 13 to June 15. Evo 2025 is the the final Demi God tournament of Pro Kompetition 2025: from Aug. 1 to Aug. 3?
