FNATIC returns to Overwatch 2 esports
FNATIC announced their return to Overwatch 2 esports back on May 7, and today they have officially unveiled their star-studded roster featuring several former Overwatch League (OWL) players. However, some of the roles these players find themselves in may come as a surprise to long-time fans.
Per their announcement, FNATIC will field a fully Korean roster headlined by coaches Koo "Fate" Pan-seung and Kim "Fleta" Byung-sun, who both make their coaching debut with this squad. The duo were former OWL players who were on the Shanghai Dragons in the same span.
The rest of the roster is just as stacked, however, with star power in the form of the former Florida Mayhem DPS Baek "Checkmate" Seung-hun and two-time OWL Role Star Lee "LeeJaeGon" Jae-gon. Kim "IZaYaKI" Min-chul is another name fans may recognize, as he also has former pro experience with several teams, dating back to 2018 when he played alongside Fate on the Los Angeles Valiant.
This roster announcement comes right on the heels of the DreamHack Dallas 2024 OWCS major, where Crazy Raccoon took the championship over Team Falcons. FNATIC joins NRG and Virtus Pro as top organizations that have recently returned to Overwatch 2 esports.
We will continue monitoring any other organizations that enter the Overwatch Champion Series (OWCS) and will continue to provide updates, so stay tuned here at esports.gg!
