One of Cassidy’s abilities is getting a big rework in Overwatch 2 Season 11.

Of all of the big announcements coming into Overwatch 2 Season 11, not many are talking about a Cassidy rework that developers mentioned in the official season announcement. The rework will change a key ability that has kept the gunslinger at the top of the meta in recent weeks and may change the way players approach Cassidy in Season 11.

Cassidy Magnetic Grenade gets a rework in Overwatch 2 Season 11

Cassidy will play much differently in Season 11 of Overwatch 2 thanks to a rework coming to the DPS hero this season. The rework will impact his Magnetic Grenade ability, which will be getting vaulted for a "Flashbang" in the new season.

This was first confirmed in the official Season 11 announcement under "What else is new in Season 11?" where developers stated the following as it pertains to hero buffs and adjustments, specifically calling out Cassidy:

"Season 11 brings a host of buffs for many of our heroes across all three roles. In addition to the various hero buffs, Cassidy is trading in the Magnetic Grenade for a new and improved Flashbang that will be sure to slow foes in their tracks."

Cassidy's Magnetic Grenade getting a rework in Season 11 of Overwatch 2 is very likely to have an impact on the hero's top spot in the current metagame. His current grenade has a lot of helpful utility when trying to shut down an enemy flanker or tank, and it is unclear if the new Flashbang ability will do the same. Once we get more details on this rework and the others coming to the hero pool, we will update with a new Season 11 tier list.

This Cassidy rework is far from all that is coming in Season 11, which brings an all-new Battle Pass, the return of the Summer Games, and so much more for players to get excited about. Be sure to stay tuned here at esports.gg for all the latest Overwatch 2 news and updates.
