Overwatch 2 just dropped a huge new feature with Season 18, allowing players to use mouse and keyboard on console.
Season 18 just dropped in Overwatch 2, and despite many new additions to the game, one change has added quite a bit of excitement to the lives of console players. The game is officially allowing compatibility for mouse and keyboard across consoles.
Season 18 of Overwatch 2 officially allows for mouse and keyboard compatibility with consoles
Games allowing for mouse and keyboard compatibility across consoles are a thing of the past, but Overwatch 2 has been a bit behind the curve. In fact, Fortnite first allowed for this change back around 2019, letting players simply plug in their mouse and keyboard to consoles and play the game just as any PC player would.
Well, Overwatch 2 is officially now allowing mouse and keyboard compatibility with consoles to help prevent people from using third-party products, which compromises competitive integrity across players.

Simply put, those playing mouse and keyboard on consoles will be put in lobbies with only console players who are also using mouse and keyboard. In the past, when players used a third-party device, it would enable mouse and keyboard players to play with controller players on consoles, giving them a significant advantage.
However, this also means that mouse and keyboard players on console will be matched alongside PC players when playing the game, which can put them at a disadvantage as PC allows for higher frame rates and better hardware.
