Overwatch players will soon be able to pick a side and duke it out for some exclusive rewards. Enter the game's faction war! Will you fight for team Overwatch or team Talon? Here's everything we know so far about the Season 1 Overwatch Conquest event.
Overwatch Conquest event
According to Blizzard Entertainment, Conquest will be an Overwatch versus Talon event that will last for five weeks. During this faction war, players will be able to complete missions, discover new lore, and earn faction-specific rewards.
Based on the preview below, we can see that there will be daily and weekly challenges that let players earn a new currency called "Reputation" as well. To amp up the competition, it looks like there will even be an indicator on the event page showing which faction has the upper hand.
Ahead of the event, senior game producer Kenny Hudson shared some more information about it as well. "In Season 1, we're introducing a new meta event where you can fight for a side and get rewarded for it. Each week, you'll pick your allegiance to Overwatch or Talon, accepting and completing missions tied directly to the lore," he said. "Rewards will then be given out at the end of each week to the faction with more successful missions. So you'll have five weeks to try and win on both teams."
Overwatch Talon faction war
Although the Conquest event will be a faction war between Overwatch and Talon, players will be able to see the story from both perspectives. "You can switch your allegiance once completing your current week’s faction pass," Blizzard Entertainment explained.
Hudson expanded on this as well. "Feel like you chose the wrong faction? No worries. You can go the double-agent route, change things up mid-phase, and not have to worry about sitting in Gibraltar alone," he said.
Overwatch vs Talon event rewards
In terms of the aforementioned Overwatch Conquest event rewards, they will include 75 regular loot boxes, 12 epic loot boxes, seven legendary loot boxes, nine new Overwatch voice lines, 21 two-dimensional (2D) cosmetics, a couple of weapon charms, one of two faction-themed Echo skins, plus exclusive player titles. There will be a secret title to earn as well.
