It’s time to pick a side: Talon or Overwatch? Here’s what you need to know about this new Overwatch Conquest event.
Overwatch Season 1 is now live. In addition to the exciting arrival of Jetpack Cat, Anran, Domina, Mizuki, and Emre, this season kicks off with a major update to how heroes work in matches thanks to subroles. Players can test all of these out while completing challenges during the Overwatch Conquest event as well. Read on for everything to know about the new Overwatch Conquest challenges and rewards, including 94 loot boxes, nine new voice lines, legendary skins, and more!
Overwatch Conquest event
Overwatch Conquest is a limited-time event that begins on Feb. 10 and runs through March 16, giving players five weeks to duke it out in a faction war. Each week, players must choose to side with either the Overwatch or Talon faction. They must also complete challenges to get rewards in the weekly pass. A completed pass means the ability to change sides and complete the other faction's pass. Players can even stay loyal to one side and complete a prestige pass.
The challenges themselves aren't too difficult. Process can be earned naturally by simply completing matches. Some of the challenges do encourage specific decisions, but they appear to be optional -- at least for Week 1 on Talon's side.
Since we chose Talon in Week 1, playing as Widowmaker means more progress. Players can even earn progress toward the Hello Kitty event challenges while going about their Talon or Overwatch faction dailies and weeklies.
"At the end of each week, completed passes for each faction will be tallied up around the world to establish a global winner for the week," Blizzard Entertainment explained. "Each completed pass will help your faction succeed!"
A special phase reward is also featured at the end of each week depending on which faction emerges victorious. Then, at the end of the Overwatch Conquest event, the global winner gets declared. Players can also look forward to either a legendary Overwatch or Talon skin for Echo plus an in-game surprise.

In terms of the loot boxes, 75 of them are regular ones while 12 of them are of the epic variety. Seven are legendary loot boxes. There are also nine new voice lines to add to one's collection alongside player icons, player titles, sprays, and name cards galore. Don't forget the weapon charms and aforementioned Echo skins and surprise, either.
Overwatch Year of the Horse event
As noted, all of the Overwatch Conquest action kicks off on Feb. 10. However, players won't have to wait long for yet another event. The Year of the Horse one goes from Feb. 13 to March 2. This one features the returning Roadhog's Catch-a-mari game mode plus some Lunar New Year rewards.
Interestingly, this game mode features a twist. At the time of publishing this article, Blizzard Entertainment has not revealed the details of this twist, but we'll keep you updated in our Overwatch section as soon as more information becomes available.
