Genji face reveal in Overwatch

Ever since the "Dragons" cinematic from 2016, Overwatch fans have wondered what Genji looks like under his mask. While skins like Royal Swordsman Genji and Happi Genji show his face, they all depict him in his younger years. This is especially noticeable when we compare them to the Young Genji skin itself.

Even collaboration skins like Zuko Genji and Genos Genji show a younger version of his face before his fight with his brother Hanzo.

Overwatch shows Genji's scars

That fight with Hanzo left Genji on the verge of death, and the former believed that his younger brother died. However, Overwatch and Mercy rescued Genji and rebuilt his body. Genji then worked for Overwatch's covert ops division called Blackwatch. When Overwatch disbanded, Genji was lost. However, he eventually met Zenyatta and found peace.

On the anniversary of Genji's supposed death, the older brother visited the former Shimada Castle to pay tribute. There, Genji and Hanzo encountered each other and fought. Genji summoned a dragon to go against Hanzo's own. This surprised Hanzo, as "only a Shimada can control the dragons." Genji then revealed the upper part of his face to Hanzo.

Genji also showed his face in a non-canon game called "Loverwatch" back in 2023. However, again, players didn't get to see a full reveal.

Now, however, we have a better reference to what older Genji's face and scars look like. The character is 37 years old, and his new Overwatch Season 1 Battle Pass skin shows it well.

Players wasted no time drawing fanart of him. Some fans even noticed that Genji's bang from his new skin is reminiscent of Hanzo's own.

Overwatch Season 1 Battle Pass skins

In terms of the other Overwatch Season 1 Battle Pass skins, players can unlock new Tracer and Sojourn skins. As for Talon fans, they can get new ones for Vendetta, Emre, Moira, and Mauga. These skins appear to be themed around the Talon versus Overwatch conflict with its blue versus red aesthetics.
