It looks like Mega and Alpha Pokémon are back in Gen 9 after leaks reveal their presence in the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A game.

Centro LEAKS, a prominent X account that regularly shares leaks about the Pokémon franchise, announced on April 19 that Pokémon Legends: Z-A will feature missions involving Rogue Mega Pokémon, as well as Alpha Pokémon that already made its debut in the previous Pokémon Legends game.

While Centro LEAKS gave no more details about Rogue Mega Pokémon, it made the community speculate as to how it will work out in the game.

With the word “Rogue” in its name, this new variant of Mega Pokémon will likely be Trainerless, which might contradict our original understanding that Mega Evolution only works if a compatible Pokémon establishes a bond with its Trainer, who in turn must possess a Key Stone and a Mega Stone.

The return of Alpha Pokémon, on the other hand, isn’t that much of a surprise, considering that Z-A is another Pokémon Legends game. These Pokémon, as already seen on Pokémon Legends: Arceus, are larger and stronger versions of regular Pokémon with red, glowing eyes and become highly aggressive if someone enters their territory.

Apart from the Rogue Mega Pokémon, Centro LEAKS also shared other hype-inducing Pokémon Legends: Z-A leaks, such as a list of all 26 new Pokémon with Mega Evolutions and Zygarde’s Pokédex number for the game.

While Centro LEAKS is known for posting leaks that turn out to be true, such as the predictions on the release of Pokémon TCG Pocket’s Triumphant Light set, we highly recommend that everyone take all of their information with a grain of salt and wait until the actual Pokémon Legends: Z-A hits the market in the final quarter of 2025.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A will take place in the Kalos region’s Lumiose City. The presence of AZ and his Eternal Flower Floette in the game's teaser during the Pokémon Presents livestream heavily implied that the game is the sequel to the story of Pokémon X and Y.
