Shiny Scatterbug is finally coming to Pokémon GO.
The Scattered to the Winds event will debut Shiny Scatterbug into Pokémon GO. This is a hugely exciting debut, with several regional variants to collect. Trainers have asked for Shiny Scatterbug for what feels like forever, and now those with completed Vivillon Collections have something to sink their teeth into.
So, here is everything you need to know about the Scattered to the Winds event in Pokémon GO.
Pokémon GO Scattered to the Winds event
The Scattered to the Winds event will run from Tuesday, Feb. 18, at 10:00 a.m. to Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time.
Event Bonuses
The following bonuses will be avaliable during the event:
- 2× XP for spinning a PokéStop.
- 5× XP for spinning a PokéStop for the first time.
- Open up to 40 Gifts per day.
- Open up to 60 Gifts per day if you have purchased the Eggs-pedition Access: February ticket.
- Increased chance to encounter Shiny Pidgey.
Long awaited Shiny Scatterbug debut
When this event starts, shiny catterbug, Spewpa, and Vivillon make their Shiny debuts in Pokémon GO! Make sure to pin postcards from Trainers all over the world to get encounters with Scatterbug. Pokémon GO's Blog Post hints at an increased chance to get Shiny Scatterbug, so pin those postcards!

Event Wild Encounters
During the Scattered to the Winds event in Pokémon GO the following Pokémon will spawn more frequently in the wild:
- Caterpie
- Pidgey
- Spearow
- Wurmple
- Starly
All of these Pokémon can be shiny. Don't forget that there will also be boosted chance to encounter Shiny Pidgey. This could be as low as 1/64.
Scattered to the Winds Pokémon GO Paid Timed Research
The Scattered to the Winds event will, like we often see in Pokémon GO, bring a Paid Timed Research ticket. This ticket will cost $5m, and contain the following bonuses:
- 16,500 Stardust
- Three Rare Candies
- An event-themed avatar pose
- Encounters with event-themed Pokémon
- And more!
This seems a little expensive for the rewards promised, unless you really like the avatar pose!
Guaranteed Lucky Trades
When this event starts, the number of guaranteed Lucky Pokémon a Trainer can receive in a trade goes up from 25 to 35. Plus, from Tuesday, Feb. 18 if you trade a Pokémon that has been in a Trainer’s Pokémon storage since 2019, it is guaranteed to become a Lucky Pokémon until the limit is reached. Check your oldest Pokémon!
