Gigantamax Lapras is coming to Pokémon GO

The next Gigantamax Pokémon to arrive in Pokémon GO will be Lapras. This Pokémon will debit in six-star Max Battles on Sunday, December 8 between 2 and 5pm local time.

Here is everything you need to know about Gigantamax Lapras Max Battle Day in Pokémon GO.

Gigantamax Lapras arrives in Pokémon GO

So far we have had five Gigantamax Pokémon debut in Pokémon GO, and Gigantamax Lapras will be the sixth. The shiny version will be avaliable, with the Gigantamax Max Battles working the same as we've seen in the past.

Event Bonuses

The following bonuses will be in effect during the Max Battle Day event.

  • Max Particle collection limit increased to 1,600
  • All Power Spots will host Gigantamax Battles
  • Power Spots will refresh more frequently
  • 8× Max Particles from Power Spots

Then, these bonuses will be active from midnight on the day of the event, ending at 5pm.

  • 2× Max Particles from exploring
  • 1/4 adventuring distance to receive Max Particles

This will let Trainers get all the Max Particles they need to take on as many battles as possible.

Gigantamax Lapras Pokémon GO Event Ticket

There will also be an event ticket, costing $5 or your local equivalent, that will include a Timed Research and additional event bonuses.

Timed Research rewards include the following.

  • 1 Max Mushroom
  • 25,000 XP

You’ll also receive the following bonuses.

  • 2× XP from Max Battles
  • Max Particle collection limit increased to 5,600

This Timed Research will be effective on Sunday, December 8, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time.

Max Mushrooms arrive in Pokémon GO

Wondering what on earth a Max Mushroom is? The debut of Gigantamax Lapras will also debut a new item into Pokémon GO. The Max Mushroom is a new item that will make Fast Attacks, Charged Attacks and Max Moves from your Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokémon do more damage. While the Mushroom is active, all of those moves will do double damage.

You can stack Max Mushrooms, like you can with Star Pieces and Lucky Eggs. They will have a limited duration, which should be about 5 minutes. These items should make Gigantamax Max Battles easier to complete.
