Gigantamax is finally coming to Pokémon GO. The feature, which is a follow up to the debut of Dynamax, was revealed just moments ago in an exciting new cinematic trainer.. You can watch that below.
We already kew some of how Gigantamax will work thanks to data mining. Over the last few months, countless G-Max Moves have been added to the game. These were found at the same time as the Max Moves which debuted earlier this season.
Here's everything we learned today about how Gigantamax works in Pokémon GO.
When does Gigantamax debut in Pokémon GO?
Gigantamax will debut in Pokémon GO during a special weekend long event, starting at 10am on October 26 and finishing at 8pm on October 27.
During this event, you will find Gigantamax Pokémon at avaliable to take in 6 Star Max Battles. These battles will cost 600 Max Particles, and have a Trainer Limit of 40! As a result, they will be very hard to take down so gather some friends!
Which Pokémon can Gigantamax in Pokémon GO?
Just like with Dynamax, only certain Pokémon will be able to Gigantamax. These will only be the Pokémon caught through special Max Battles.
Initially, only three Pokémon will be able to Gigantamax in Pokémon GO:
- Charizard
- Venusaur
- Blastoise
Expect more Pokémon to join this line up over the coming months.

How will Gigantamax Max Battles work?
They will work very similar to Dynamax Max Battles. They will be featured at Power Spots, need Max Particles to enter and you can leave a Pokémon behind afterwards to help future Trainers.
Some differences are the number of Trainers that can battle (40, not 5) and that these Raids will only spawn during special events.
What are G-Max Moves in Pokémon GO?
While a Pokémon is Gigantamaxed, their first Max Move is a powerful G-Max Move. Each species of Pokémon capable of Gigantamaxing has a unique G-Max Move, which may not be the same type as its Fast Attack. We are getting the debut of G-Max Vine Lash, G-Max Wildife and G-Max Cannonade debuting with this event.
