Let everyone know who your favorite critter is in Pokémon GO!
With less than a month before the 30th anniversary of the franchise, Pokémon GO rolls out a new update containing a “What’s Your Favorite?” feature, which allows players to take personalized images together with their favorite mons.
"What’s Your Favorite?" is only available for AR-compatible phones and will stay as one of the app’s permanent camera features. When accessed, the feature will let users pick any Pokémon they want to take a photo with, regardless if that Pokémon was already registered on the user’s Pokédex yet.
Almost all 1,000+ Pokémon species are currently available on the feature, and after taking the photo, it can be further customized using flairs and stickers.
How to use the "What’s Your Favorite?" feature in Pokémon GO
To open this camera feature, open your Pokémon GO app, and select the Poké Ball icon at the bottom center of your screen to reveal the main menu. Look for the camera icon with the "What’s Your Favorite?" logo on the lower left side of your screen and click on it.

Inside the camera options, press the "What’s Your Favorite?" section, and you’ll see the list of Pokémon that you can take a photo with. If you want to look for your favorite Pokémon, use the search bar and type that Pokémon’s name or National Pokédex Number.
Keep in mind that you won’t be able to select special forms, such as Mega Evolution, costumed, and Max Pokémon.
After selecting a Pokémon, you can now use your AR camera to take photos with your Pokémon anywhere and share them on social media.
Perks of using this new feature on Pokémon GO

Aside from letting you show off just how big of a Pokémon fan you are, the “What’s Your Favorite?” feature also offers Special Research tasks that reward users for completing them.
Some of the rewards include:
- 100 PokéCoins
- A rare encounter with Gengar
- Other useful items
This Special Research is only claimable until March 21 at 8 p.m. local time, so don’t miss this chance to get more goodies while using the new camera feature.
