College esports: Who’s in the ESC 2024 Rocket League playoffs?

Let’s take a look at what’s happening in the college esports scene with ESC’s 2024 Rocket League playoffs.

After 13 weeks of regular season matches, standings have settled down and Rocket League playoffs are kicking off the college esports postseason! Let’s take a look so you know exactly what to expect in college esports later today.

Starting with the format, teams will have to lose twice before grand finals in a double elimination bracket. Teams play each of their matches at 5 p.m. EST. Teams that win will punch a ticket to the upper bracket semifinals, while the losing teams will duke it out in the first round of the lower bracket.

The first games of the week will be between 1st seed Ball State and 8th seed Kent State. The two teams faced off in week 10 of the regular season, which Ball State stomped with a 3-0.

The 4th seed Bowling Green State University Falcons will be taking on the 5th seed Central Michigan University. Both teams faced off in week six of the regular season, and BGSU took a tightly contested 3-2.

Miami University Rocket League and Akron University will be facing off on the other side of the bracket as the 2nd and 7th seeds respectively. The two teams played each other in the final week of the regular season, with Akron taking the win 3-0.

The final quarterfinals match is between the 3rd seed Northeastern and the Northern Illinois University Huskies, the 6th seed. Both teams played way back in week one, and Northeastern swept the set 3 to nothing.

ESC will stream one of these matches on their Twitch account at 5 p.m. EST later today.
