Rocket League has just announced an X-Men ’97 event which offers players the chance to earn or purchase unique items based on the Disney+ Marvel Animated Series.
The voice of Charles Xavier reverberates around the Rocket League Arena as he calls out to his mutant brethren, the X-Men, "To me, my X-Men!". That's right, Rocket League players. You're getting some x-citing new content! Rocket League has just announced a tie-in with X-Men '97, the recently released animated series on Disney+. Players will get the chance to earn cosmetics and in-game rewards based on characters in the series.
Marvel Animation released the series to critical acclaim and a lot of praise from its audience in March. The series will now make its way into the Rocket League universe with the next update.
How to earn X-Men '97 rewards in Rocket League?
There will be 12 challenges during the event, each offering a unique reward upon completion. Players can earn the following rewards by completing the challenges.
- 3 Toppers - The Blackbird, Cerebro and a Sentinel Head
- 3 Banners - X-Men, Wolverine and Magneto
- A set of X-Men Wheels
- A decal based on Gambit, one of the characters from the series
- An boost based on Jubilee's pyrotechnic energy powers
- A Marvel Crackle Trail
There are also a couple of more grindy challenges which players can complete multiple times. Completing these challenges will reward players with X-Crates and XP Points.
- Play 20 online matches - 1 Golden X-Crate (Unlocks items from the Champions, Vindicator or Velocity Series). Can be completed five times.
- Win 10 online matches - 20,000 XP. Can be completed unlimited times.
What's in the store during the event?
The store will give players the option to purchase a few more X-Men '97 themed items. These include the following:
- A Cyclops-themed decal for Fennec
- Cyclops Optic Blast Boost
- A Rogue breakout decal
- A Jean Grey Dominicus decal (Features animated flames based on Jean Grey's Dark Phoenix powers)
- A Storm-themed decal for Breakout
- A Jubilee-themed decal for Octane (A shiny-sparkles effect)
- A Wolverine-themed decal for Octane
- The Wolverine Slash Goal Explosion
- A Magneto-themed decal for Dominicus
- Mutant Brotherhood wheels
Some items are also available with the Fortnite - X-Men '97 collaboration and can be owned across both games. In addition to these items, players can purchase bundles from the store.

When does the X-Men '97 event begin in Rocket League?
The X-Men '97 event begins on April 23 and ends on May 7. Players can complete the challenges and earn all their rewards during this period and will have access to the exclusive store items until the final day. During the event, players can also claim the Mutant player title for free in the store.
