Q3 of 2025 experienced dips in broadcast and watch hours for VTubers, while hololive announced a collab with Twitch.

VTubers are now a staple of online content. 2025 has been an incredibly successful year for this genre of streamers and content creators, but the third quarter of this year showed some dips in stream time and watch time. Meanwhile, COVER Corporation announced "holoday," their first official collab with streaming platform Twitch.

VTuber streams dip in Q3 2025

A joint report by Streams Charts and VStats discussed the analytics of VTuber streams in Q3 of 2025. First, watched hours decreased compared to Q2; from 527.55 million to 462.46 million. This is a 12.3% dip. According to them, this is due to a few key factors.

Firstly, the total number of hours streamed was lower. Of course, this would also cause a dip in hours watched. There was big VTuber news that happened throughout this period, particularly the VShojo fiasco that saw talents leave the agency and return to streaming independently.

Second: 2025 was very successful for VTubers. The past quarters and months were record-breaking for the industry. Compared to the 2024 numbers, the statistics for Q3 of 2025 would have fit right in.

Meanwhile, the platform distribution is a little trickier. Twitch has 78.4% of the VTuber channels, while YouTube only has 20.2%. But, in terms of hours watched, YouTube has a bigger share (58.5%) despite having fewer VTubers on the platform. Twitch, on the other hand, is enjoying 31.6% of total VTuber stream hours watched.

Some hololive talents already have a Twitch channel, but holoday is still bound to make a big impact on these statistics for the final quarter of the year.
