2017 - Amouranth turns to IRL Vlogs, YouTube skits and trolling
In 2017, Amouranth moved away from gaming content to experiment with IRL vlogs, YouTube skits and Just Chatting streams. The content ranged from vlogs of cosplaying as Tracer at PAX SOUTH and trolling Tinder dates to reading Mean Tweets/comments about her photos from social media.
While not all of her skits for YouTube were successful, it was clearly a transitional year for herself and her brand. Amouranth uploaded several videos of her dressed in cosplay attempting to cause mischief, but one video in particular took off.
In May 2017, Amouranth uploaded "Wendy's Trolls McDonald's and Burger King". The video involved her doing a troll review video of the food at McDonalds and Burger King dressed as the face of American burger chain Wendy's.
The Wendy video went viral and today has 1.4 million views, making it her 7th most viewed video of all time. It was around the same time that Amouranth's Twitch stream began to see an even bigger surge in viewership. Between January and December 2017, her average viewership increased dramatically from 100 viewers to over 1,000.
Over the course of 2017 the streamer also experimented with the more "suggestive" content for which she is now well known for. At the time she used her Patreon as a space to share more risqué photos of her character cosplays with her Patreon supporters. Additionally in the latter stages of 2017 Amouranth began streaming and creating ASMR content, content which is now primarily known for.
2018 and beyond - ASMR, Hot Tub Meta and more
Throughout 2018, Amouranth continued with ASMR streams and content, creating a ASMR-only YouTube Channel. She also began to document her workout routines through a new fitness Instagram page. This has since become her modelling page.
Over the next few years, Amouranth gradually transitioned to model-focused work. As time progressed the content she produced, particularly on her YouTube, became increasingly focused around beauty and health. Now, in 2021, Amouranth's YouTube primarily reviews clothing brands and accessories.
Trend setter
Meanwhile, Amouranth's Twitch has been a driving force in many popular trends, such as ASMR Mic licking and the more recent "Hot Tub Meta".
The Hot Tub Meta was a popular trend in the first half of 2021 where streamers would broadcast from a hot tub or blow-up pool. Amouranth remains one of the biggest streamers involved in the trend, along with IndieFoxx and Leynainu.
It's fair to say that streamer's content now is a far cry from the Overwatch gameplay videos she made five years ago. In fact, Amouranth's YouTube and Twitch content is now primarily focused around driving viewers to her Patreon and Only Fans. On these two platforms she offers what she calls "risque fun adult content".
During the pandemic Amouranth has risen to be the most popular female English streamer on Twitch. But not without controversy. She has been banned multiple times for breaking Twitch's Terms of Service in regards to sexually suggestive content.
Why was Amouranth banned?
Amouranth has been banned on Twitch at least five times for a variety of reasons, some of which were made public.
In August 2017, she received a suspension for "sexual gesturing". According to Amouranth in a YouTube video the suspension was caused by an incident on stream. She said she was harmlessly trying to illustrate to a viewer during a Q&A that she had not breast implants.
In November 2017 she received another suspension for 7 days this time for breaking terms of service. At the time the Twitch streamer said she was considering swapping to YouTube to "find a better fit for my content".
Amouranth has also been banned from Twitch for suggestively licking a ASMR microphone during a rather bizarre stream in June 2021. In October 2021 she not only received a 3-day ban on her Twitch channel, but also received bans on her Instagram and TikTok. Regardless of multiple bans, the social media influencer continues to stream on Twitch to thousands of viewers daily.
