YouTube Shorts will now be able to run up to three minutes long.

YouTube Shorts continue to evolve, becoming a prominent aspect of the video platform. The website has officially announced that Shorts will soon be able to run up to three minutes, giving Shorts creators much more time to play around with.

Here is everything we know.

YouTube Shorts can now be up to 3 minutes in run time

For some time, now, TikTok has allowed creators to post videos up to 10 minutes long. This was a massive feat for the app, allowing for creators to release much longer videos than normal in the vertical format.

Since then, YouTube has never changed its Shorts policy, keeping the vertical format videos at one minute or less.

Well, all that is about to change, after YouTube officially announced that Shorts will be able to run up to three minutes long.

So, why does the company not compete with TikTok and make it so Shorts can be even longer? Well, they do not necessarily need to. YouTube is already the number one platform for long-form videos. There is no reason for them to lengthen the run time of Shorts past three minutes.

When will YouTube Shorts allow for 3 minutes?

YouTube is rolling out this feature pretty soon. YouTube Shorts will be able to reach up to three minutes long starting on October 15, 2024. That is only two weeks away.

With the platform introducing this feature, Shorts creators will not only be able to release longer content, but they will be able to make more in earnings, too.

This could be a life-changing opportunity for many Shorts creators, and could potentially change the platform altogether.

Are Shorts becoming the future of YouTube?
