The popular TFT player has been banned from competing for the next two months.
Recently, the popular Teamfight Tactics (TFT) competitor, Kevin "Setsuko" Jiang, was banned by Riot Games for two months from participating in any official TFT events. Riot announced the ban earlier today (September 12, 2024).
TFT competitor, Setsuko, banned from future events
In a recent note posted online, Riot Games announced the official ban of TFT competitor, Setsuko. The note exclaimed that the player had violated three Code of Conduct rules within the TFT Competitive Rulebook.
These rules included discrimination and denigration, derogatory or defamatory statements and confidential information.
Riot stated the exact reasons for Setsuko's two-month ban.
"When determining the applicable sanction, Riot Games noted that Setsuko received a penalty in July 2024 for breaching America's TFT Magic n' Mayhem Rulebook Article 9.1.11," said Riot Games in the letter they posted online addressing the ban.
Setsuko has been very vocal in the past about Brazilian TFT competitors, with various accounts of hate speech to his name.
"In this regard, Riot Games considers Setsuko's recent disciplinary track record as an aggravating circumstance."
So, which rules did he break?
Rules broken by Setsuko
In Riot Games' note released to the TFT community, they included the exact rules that were broken by Setsuko, which are listed and defined below:
- Article 3.21 (Confidential Information) of the Global Code of Conduct for sharing previous correspondence from Riot Games on X (formally Twitter) despite the express confidentiality notice.
- Article 3.8 (Derogatory or Defamatory Statements) of the Global Code of Conduct and Article 6.2.5 (Discrimination and Denigration) of the Americas TFT Esports Magic n' Mayhem Rulebook for use of discriminatory and denigrating language on stream.

Was 2 months a long enough ban?
Many are questioning whether or not the two-month ban is long enough for the competitor. Setsuko's past actions have obviously created a negative impact on many other players. In Riot Games' recent letter, the company also expressed that the competitor showed little to no remorse when called out for his actions.
Setsuko has a large following online, especially his Twitch. His comments do not go unheard, whether they are negative or positive. Players like him have a responsibility to shed a positive light on the esports scene.
As of now, the competitor's ban will be lifted in November 2024. It could be extended, though, if the player continues to violate any code of conduct.
Setsuko responds to his ban on Twitter
The competitor took to Twitter to post about his recent ban, proving that he has yet to change or show any remorse for his actions.
"Got banned for a set. Probably still gonna stream solo queue," said Setsuko on Twitter. "My bad, though. Next time I'll just blatantly win trade in Worlds and get fined instead."
He then finished the tweet with a laughing emoji, proving further that does will not take any responsibility for his actions.
