TFT Set 7 hit the live servers a few days ago. Esports.gg gives you the run down on the new mythical dragons.

With TFT's Set 7 making its way to the Dragonlands, it was a no-brainer for Riot to introduce an entourage of new units to the League of Legends auto-battler. TFT Set 7 introduced seven mythical units, a couple of them will be familiar for long-time League of Legends players, but for everyone else, there is plenty of new units to explore. Here are all the dragons in TFT Set 7, how their abilities work and more.

Idas

  • Cost: 8 gold
  • Tier: 4
  • Traits: Dragon, Shimmerscale and Guardian

Idas is one of the only "true tanks" when it comes to the seven mythical dragons in Set 7. Idas's two extra traits are Shimmerscale and Guardian, which should indicate from the beginning this unit is set up to be your primary defence for your backline.

Idas's ability "Golden Scales" charges up for two seconds. In that time Idas is reducing the amount of damage taken. Once her ability has been charged up, it will activate with a roar which heals her and shields her allies for five seconds. During the time the shield is active, they will receive an extra 40% attack speed.

Daeja

  • Cost: 8 gold
  • Tier: 4
  • Traits: Dragon and Mirage

Daeja is the ultimate backline carry and a deadly dragon in the right hands. Daeja's one and only trait, Mirage, ensures she has the extra attack speed necessary to do fatal damage from a distance. Daeja's ability "Echo Wind" has a passive and an active. Echo Winds passive grants bonus magic damage and reduces the targets magic resistance by three.

Echo Winds active fires a gust of wind towards the largest cluster of enemies, doing insane magic damage. For the next five seconds, Daeja's attacks launch three barrages.

Shi Oh Yu

  • Cost: 8 gold
  • Tier: 4
  • Traits: Dragon, Jade and Mystic

Shi Oh Yu is one of the strongest dragons in the game as far as her team fighting goes. Shi Oh Yu's strength comes from her melee attacks. Her ability "Jade form", makes her immune to crowd control, reducing the amount of damage she takes while also empowering her next three auto-attacks.

Shi Oh Yu's first empowered auto-attack produces a percentage of physical damage while also stunning the target for one second. Her second auto-attack deals a percentage of bonus true damage. Finally, her third auto attack deals a percentage of physical damage to all enemies in a line, knocking them up for one second in the process.

Shyvana

  • Cost: 10 gold
  • Tier: 5
  • Traits: Dragon, Ragewing and Shapeshifter

One of the two units that are League of Legends champions, Shyvana is once again making her return to Teamfight Tactics. Shyvana is one of three dragons that is a ten-cost unit. Shyvana is one of the strongest dragons in TFT Set 7. Like Shi Oh Yu, Shyvana is the ultimate frontline dragon and a must-have for the Ragewing class.

If combined correctly, players can run a nine-ragewing composition. Shyvana's ability "Dragons Descent", transforms Shyvana into a large dragon, which is where her Shapeshifter trait comes into play. For the entirety of the round Shyvana will remain in her dragon form. Upon transforming, Shyvana nose-dives into the biggest group of combatants. This ability deals magic damage while stunning them for 1.5 seconds.

Shyvana's auto attacks in dragon form, "Flame Breathe" make her breathe fire in a small area, dealing a good amount of damage. When you are transitioning into the late game with Shyvana, it is best to put tank items onto her. Although she scales with AP, she already deals an insane amount of damage with her Flame Breathe, making AP items onto Shyvana overkill.

Sy'fen

  • Cost: 8 gold
  • Tier: 4
  • Traits: Dragon, Whispers and Bruiser

Sy'Fen is the ultimate bruiser dragon and should be a popular choice for frontline madness. Sy'fens two traits Whispers and Bruiser combine well to provide a great frontline tank. The Whispers trait shreds a units resistance while the Bruiser trait provides the buffed-up health.

Sy'Fens ability "Rampage" is as deadly as they come. Rampage forces Sy'Fen to charge towards the farthest enemy within two hexes, knocking other units up along the way. Upon charging, Sy'Fen bites an enemy, dealing an insane amount of damage while ignoring 50% of the target's armor.

Ao Shin

  • Cost: 10 gold
  • Tier: 5
  • Traits: Dragon and Tempest

Moving onto the second 10-cost dragons, Ao Shin is a great carry unit due to his range. This paired along with his only trait, that being tempest, makes Ao Shin a threat. Ao Shin's ability "Lightning Rain" fires a barrage of 20 lightning strikes, dealing a good amount of damage as well as draining mana from his opponents.

Aurelion Sol

  • Cost: 10 gold
  • Tier: 5
  • Traits: Dragon, Astral and Evoker

The third and final 10-cost dragon is Aurelion Sol, arguably the most used dragons in TFT Set 7 right now. There is no surprise both Aurelion Sol and Shyvana are the two strongest dragons in TFT, being they are both actual champions in League of Legends.

Sol along with the dragon trait brings both Evoker and Astral to the board. Having the Evoker trait is extremely important for Aurelion Sol as it provides extra mana regeneration. Aurelion Sol's ability "Black Hole" summons a black hole underneath a random unit. After two seconds the black hole will explode. This explosion will damage any enemy unit in the surrounding area and reduce their attack damage for a small duration. With each cast, the area increases and the damage also increases.
