More customization options come with iOS 18.

The latest iOS update brings multiple new changes and features that are designed to improve the end user experience. With extensive customization options and security updates, things will be much easier for iPhone users. The new update comes to a long range of phones dating back almost seven years since production so it will affect a lot of users. Here’s everything you need to know about the customization options in iOS 18.

Home Screen Customization in iOS 18

  • Flexible Layout: iPhone users can now arrange app icons and widgets anywhere on the Home Screen. This includes the place above the dock giving the Home Screen layout a more prominent look. The personalization will appeal to a large section of iPhone users who have been demanding this for a long time.
  • Widgets: Users can now resize widgets as well as change the look. This would include a dark or tinted appearance for some widgets which would be incredibly useful to match certain types of home screens.
  • Change the Design: You can also leave blank spaces on the Home screen, which would be an excellent way of segregating different types of apps. You could keep transport apps together, design apps in a separate block, and similar types of personalization.
  • Custom Icons: Finally, users can also personalize their experience by customizing apps and selecting different designs for their apps.

Lock Screen Customization in iOS 18

  • Lock Screen Controls: You can now change or remove the controls at the bottom of the Lock Screen. You can replace the camera app with other apps such as Torch or Calculator.
  • Gradient Clock: The Lock Screen Clock can now feature Gradient colors which would go well with certain wallpapers and background images to match your style.

iPhone users can also highlight favorite people, pets, places, and more photos as a carousel autoplaying content throughout the app. It would make it easier to relive certain types of memories.

The focus on enabling customization features for iPhone users in iOS18 was the highlight of the September 9 event. Apple revealed that the iOS 18 will go live on devices starting September 16, 2024, just a few days before the launch of iPhone 16.
