Team Vitality returns to fighting esports with Tekken 8 player Jeondding

The French esports organization starts a new FGC era.

Team Vitality has officially announced their contract with a top-level Tekken 8 competitor, Jeon "Jeondding" Sang-hyun, from South Korea. At the moment, he is the only fighting games player in the organization. This sponsorship is exciting and promising for Team Vitality and the Tekken esports scene.

Jeondding joins Team Vitality

The announcement was made through a tweet.

A few more details were shared on the official website. Jeondding said it’s a dream come true for him, and he can’t wait to start competing as part of Team Vitality.

“When I first got contacted by Team Vitality, I couldn’t believe it! I wondered if I could join a huge team like this, and now that dream has come true. While exchanging with the [organization], I started to get to know more and more about the identity of the club, watching their videos on their YouTube channel, their [trophies]… and it gave me goosebumps. I want to grow with this club, continue to be a great player, and bring new titles on Tekken 8 for Team Vitality!”

Team Vitality also shared optimism about this collaboration.

Team Vitality Jeondding plays at Evo Japan 2024

The first opportunity for Jeondding to prove himself as part of a new organization is right around the corner. He will be competing at Evo Japan 2024, the first Master+ event of TEKKEN World Tour 2024.

Evo Japan 2024 happens this weekend between April 27 and April 29, with the Tekken 8 Finals part planned for 11 p.m. PT on April 28.

Team Vitality in fighting esports

The organization previously sponsored some fighting esports competitors such as the ones below:

  • Florent "Linkexelo" Dubois
  • Ilker "TKR" Dovanci
  • Claude Eric "Hurricane" Diboti

Interestingly enough, the former Team Vitality players are focused mainly on Street Fighter. With Jeondding, the organization takes a step toward Tekken 8 esports. The gap between a previous contract and one with Jeondding is more than four years.

For the fighting games community (FGC), this sponsorship is huge! Not only are people simply happy for Jeondding and his career, but they also understand the power that comes to the FGC with Team Vitality. It’s a huge brand that has players in popular games such as CS2 and LoL. It’s one of the most recognizable organizations across all esports.

Thanks to this contract, we can expect more opportunities coming to fighting games professionals in the near future.
