Everything to know about the update 1.06 for the fighting game TEKKEN 8 is here.

Some fixes and improvements are coming with TEKKEN 8 Patch 1.06. They were announced during the developers stream, where Harada and his colleagues explained Lidia Sobieska. One of the biggest changes is the enhanced combo options for players using Special Style, but TEKKEN 8 1.06 also includes a new mode, an extra option for TEKKEN Ball multiplayer, and more.

When Patch 1.06 is out for TEKKEN 8

July 23, 2024, is the release date for TEKKEN 8 Patch 1.06. For the US West Coast, it’s July 22.

Patch 1.06 for TEKKEN 8: Special Style improvements

Following the recent trends in the fighting games genre, TEKKEN 8 offers players a simplified input scheme. It is called Special Style — press one button to activate it (L1 on PlayStation or LB on Xbox), and you will be able to activate special moves and combos with one button only. TEKKEN 8 Special Style shows hints on what buttons do, like a special move with square/X and an air combo with triangle/Y.

This option is great for beginners and casual players. Surprisingly, it opens a pretty good creative freedom in TEKKEN 8 matches and keeps a good competitive spirit.

One of the limitations of Special Style was the inability for crouching characters to use their special moves and start their Air Combo. Considering how often opponents rely on low hits, the crouching block has become a common defensive tool in the game.

Thanks to the 1.06 update, TEKKEN 8 Special Style players can go to air combo from the crouching position and unleash their special moves without changing to the standing stance. Even with the simplified input, TEKKEN 8 fights are dynamic, and those few moments may affect the outcome — whether your hit lands and whether you win a match.

TEKKEN Ball practice lobby

Another interesting feature coming to TEKKEN 8 with Patch 1.06 is the option to train while waiting for your online opponent in the TEKKEN Ball mode.

This is a common thing for the traditional TEKKEN fights. You don’t waste your time doing nothing in the online lobby while the system is searching for an opponent for you. It is better to use this time practicing TEKKEN combos!

The update 1.06 makes this opportunity available for the TEKKEN Ball mode as well.

Photo mode in TEKKEN 8

The new mode added to Patch 1.06 for TEKKEN 8 allows players to take cool photos with their heir favorite characters on their favorite stages.

The very idea is not new and innovative. For instance, Guilty Gear Strive players have been enjoying such a mode for ages. But having this option in TEKKEN feels like a great addition to the primary fighting fun.

TEKKEN 8 Patch Notes 1.06: Behavior fixes

Many changes to character movesets and general battle balance were made with the two recent TEKKEN updates: Patches 1.04 and 1.05. Like it was promised back then, the developers avoid balance adjustments for the rest of Season 1. Therefore,  TEKKEN Patch 1.06 brings only bug fixes — or behavior fixes, so the game (characters, effects, etc.) behaves as it should.

1.06 Patch Notes should be released closer to July 23 (July 22 for PT), when the update is released for all the TEKKEN 8 players. It is a good decision to update the game after the TEKKEN 8 Evo 2024 tournament, so the top-level competition is untouched by the changes.

Lidia and the Seaside Resort stage

Having a new TEKKEN 8 character is the biggest part of the 1.06 update. Lidia Sobieska feels like a fun fighter to play, with her many quick jabs and karate-style special moves.

Also, the game gets a new stage, Seaside Resort. It is beautiful, with dynamic lighting depending on the daytime. A great thing about it is that Seaside Resort is free for all TEKKEN 8 players.

TEKKEN 8 may have new announcements made at Evo 2024 or right after the release of Patch 1.06. It can even be the reveal of the next DLC character. Stick around on esports.gg for TEKKEN 8 news and updates!
